Job Summary
Oversees the forensic psychiatry, neuropsychology, and psychology cases under the direction of the Director of Forensic Psychiatry. Assists the Administrator in the efficient running of the department providing support for Chairman, Faculty, Administrator and other learners within the department.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate forensic caseload from initial inquiry to finished report on behalf of Director of Forensic Psychiatry.
* Assesses forensic case need when receiving inquiry, assisting Forensic Psychiatry Director in determining
appropriateness of case.
* Acts as a liaison communicating throughout the process requesting and receiving appropriate documentation
from law enforcement agencies (attorneys, judges, courts, worker’s compensation, employers, hospitals, medical
clinics, mental health agencies, schools, independent medical evaluation companies, and individuals) seeking
services. This includes but is not limited to screening initial referrals, forensic service agreements, releases of
information, medical records, court orders, previous reports/testing, charges filed, which injuries occurred,
legal/medical questions case is to answer, and retainers. This requires regular contact with parties to monitor
case status.
* Schedule forensic cases based on all necessary information received by deadline, schedule collateral interview
sources, and manage the forensic department calendar to ensure Forensic Psychiatry Director’s preparation for
cases, collateral interviews, meetings, and other clinical and academic responsibilities.
* Consolidates legal, medical and other case records obtained in a logical fashion to ensure ease of review for the
Director of Forensic Psychiatry, neuropsychologist, and/or psychologist.
* Records and charts forensic client contacts in a timely fashion as required.
* Secures medical records and necessary documents for cases and follow up these requests as needed.
* Track time for billable services for forensic psychiatrist, psychologist, neuropsychologist, and forensic coordinator
for invoicing purposes.
* Track case progress
* Maintains records of all completed cases, open cases, potential cases, closed cases without services provided.
* Invoices, tracks invoices, and follow up for non-payment on all services rendered.
* Proofread lengthy reports (often 25 pages or more).
* Distribute completed report and invoice as ordered.
* Develop and maintain a network of relationships with agencies in order to provide our available resources.
* Develop and maintain rapport with agencies in the legal and medical field to facilitate obtaining of necessary
documents for cases.
* Markets forensic services to appropriate referral sources and development of website materials.
* Scanning forensic casefiles when completed for secure storage.
* Acts as purchasing officer for departmental testing.
* Provides support to Director of Forensic Psychiatry, forensic faculty, forensic testing personnel and learners
rotating through forensic psychiatry rotation.
* Other duties as assigned

Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Education
• Associate's Degree (Required) Education: Associate degree with preference in medico-legal field (i.e. paralegal, criminal justice, etc.) due to the forensic component of this position. Experience: Experience working in the legal system is preferred (law office, court system, police, etc.) Substitution: 2 years’ experience in a similar administrative position with 1 year of college (with preference in a legal field) can be substituted. 4 years’ of progressive administrative work with High School Diploma/GED can be substituted
