Responsibilities

We are seeking a Forensic Nurse (Nights), sometimes referred to as a Forensic Registered Nurse (Forensic RN) at Southern Regional Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare in Riverdale, GA. Our Forensic RN will specialize in forensic nursing, providing medical care to victims of violence, abuse, or trauma while also collecting and preserving evidence to be used in legal proceedings, effectively bridging the gap between healthcare and the legal system; they often work with law enforcement.

 

Employment Type: Full Time ($3.50-$6.00 shift diff)

Shifts Available: Nights

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

provide compassionate care to patients who are victims or perpetrators of crimes, such as sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse, or human traffickingaddress physical, emotional, and psychological needs following a traumatic event.perform forensic examinations, such as collecting physical evidence (e.g., clothing, hair, bodily fluids, or swabs) and documenting injuries (e.g., bruises, cuts, or burns)ensure proper handling and preservation of evidence to maintain its integrity for legal proceedingsthoroughly document patient history, injuries, and any evidence collected; take detailed photographs of injuries for legal and medical recordswork closely with law enforcement, attorneys, and the legal system by providing expert testimony or assisting with investigationsserve as a liaison between the healthcare and legal systems to ensure continuity in case management Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

current and valid state RN Licensecurrent BLS certificate upon hire and maintain currentcurrent ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current preferredprevious Acute Care hospital experience preferredventilator management experience preferredBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
