Forensics Firearm and Tool Mark Examiner

Required

Four (4) years of experience in the following fields:Analysis of firearms, ammunition, and ammunition componentsExamination and microscopic comparison of questioned bullets, and cartridge cases Examination of various types of manufacturers, class and individual characteristics of tools and toolmarks on a variety of objectsExperience conducting examinations while maintaining chain of custody and formulating interpretation results for forensic and or intelligence exploitationMust be able to successfully pass all medical requirements for deployment.Must be able to successfully pass a skills/competency assessment.Able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government clearance. Note US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret clearance.Able to obtain a US Passport.

Desired:

Conduct shooting incident reconstructionProvide training for other laboratory examiners and personnel in regard to firearms safety and proper handling techniques and guidance and expertise to latent print examiners in regard to assisting them with potential locations on firearms where latent prints may be foundCollection, preservation, and processing of evidence and event reconstructionExperience working with an OIF/OEF Laboratory, TEDAC facility, or other NGIC, DoD or ATF Lab; interagency or state/local law enforcement forensics labs preferred.Professional certifications such as Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners (AFTE)

 Location: Ft Gillem (Forest Park) GA. This is just 30 min south of Atlanta

Clearance: Ability to obtain a Secret clearance. This means they must be a US Citizen.

Rate / Salary / Experience:

Deployments are 6 months every 18 months; however, the employee can request for up to 12 months. Employees' deployment locations are selected by the government. They cannot select which deployment they take, but they are welcome to make requests.

While deployed, the annual salary expectation is:

Kuwait: $147,000 with the expectation of 63 hours per week

Bahrain: $98,000 with the expectation of 40 hours per week

Djibouti: $106,000 with the expectation of 40 hours per week

Iraq: $210,000 with the expectation of 71 hours per week

Additional Details:

During the assessment, which could be 3-6 months, the employee is provided lodging and meal reimbursement.

While deployed to Kuwait, Djibouti, or Bahrain, lodging is provided, and meals are reimbursed based on the GSA M&IE rate.

While deployed to Iraq lodging and meals are provided.

Travel: Willingness to travel OCONUS for 6 months every 18 months
