We are seeking Supervisors to support our Heavy Construction and Mining team. By being the point of reference for both workers and supervisors you will be a key component of the success of the project. You should have a solid background in large scale, site-based projects utilizing your leadership skills and experience in the planning, development and coordination of large heavy construction and earthworks projects in the Fort McMurray Alberta area in order to direct the work of others and make quick decisions. In addition Supervisors are involved with the interpretation of plans and specifications for projects, contract administration and project controls requirements as well as construction activities associated with the project requirements.

Responsibilities Ensure efficient deployment and productivity of work crewsEnsure and enforce compliance to all company, client and legislated Safety policies and proceduresConduct daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections and complete follow-up activitiesAssess and confirm, through documentation, crew competencyReview safe work plans/ hazard assessment with crew prior to job commencementEnsure that all work permits are obtained and adhered toTake corrective action to mitigate immediate hazards, where safe to do soEnsure consistent application of the progressive discipline systemInspect work site before, during and at end of shiftIdentify surplus equipment and labour resourcesOperate in a safe and courteous manner at all timesEnsure compliance to Corporate and client D&A PoliciesEnsure all new hires/transfers receive required orientations. Attend and participate in site specific orientationsEnsure adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE, is supplied, readily accessible, properly used and maintainePromote and ensure the FLRA process is conducted before every taskReport and refuse unsafe work. Report unsafe conditions immediatelyComplete near miss cards/voice cardsReport all incidents and hazards to the SupervisorConduct incident investigations and prepare associated support documentation immediatelyReport and respond to any harassment issuesIdentify testing requirements and ensure Subcontractors are available to support daily operationsComplete termination/transfer reports and submit to SupervisorAdhere to project, company environmental considerationsIdentify quantity and scope changes to the Contract and communicate to SupervisorEnsure crews use and understand up to date project cost codingMonitor equipment utilization and report down equipment to MechanicsReview weekly servicing and preventative maintenance schedulesComplete daily activity reports/daily logs and submit to SupervisorMentor fellow workers and lead by example Qualifications 5-10 years experience in a mining environment (Oilsands preferably)5-7 years experience in a Supervisory roleExperience with Overburden, Pipe/Culvert installation, road construction and etc.
