Forging Operator - Level 3

Shift: 2nd shift 

Facility: (Impaction) 6100 Cochran Road, Solon OH 44139 

Salary Grade: Hourly H (H)

Position Summary: 

At this level, the associate can perform more complex duties per standard work, including process changeovers and troubleshooting with minimal guidance or help from a trainer or supervisor. They can recognize and solve some non-routine problems.  

 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

 

​​Able to perform all task of previous JLG levels 

​Set-up and Troubleshoot to Standard Work 

​Demonstrates the ability to determine why there is abnormal machine operation or abnormal dimensional or cosmetic problems with the part during the manufacturing run. 

​Adjust dies, die holders, presses, or part handling equipment to repair or improve something outside the set-up information. 

​Can function virtually independently with little or no technical guidance from supervision & technical support, in all areas of the manufacturing process, including but not limited to, General Requirements, Forging Knowledge, Forging Operation, Trim Operation, Gages, Set-Up, and Troubleshooting. 

​May interact with associates in other functional areas within the respective plant, or, at another facility, and can oversee and assist with department development. ​ 

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 

Required:  

No Education Required 

Basic computer software skills (e.g. Microsoft Office).   

Able to read and follow work instructions.   

Familiar with operation of PLC interface screens. 

Requires the use of hand tools, SAP, and standard work.  

Must have good mechanical abilities and be able to utilize a micrometer, caliper, and 6” scale to gauge parts. 

Preferred: 

2-4 years of forging experience strongly preferred.   

Knowledge of products and processes is also preferred

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements: 

 

​​​Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.  

​Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. 

​May be required to pass pre-employment and annual Vision Acuity tests​ 

​Must be able to lift loads of 50lbs or less.​
