We are seeking a skilled Forklift Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This role is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of forklifts and other material handling equipment (MHE) to ensure safe and efficient operations. Additional responsibilities include general facility maintenance, basic ammonia refrigeration system maintenance, and electrical troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will have experience with forklift maintenance, industrial electrical systems, and preventative maintenance programs within a warehouse or cold storage environment.
Key Responsibilities:Forklift & MHE Maintenance: Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment per manufacturer and company guidelines.Facility & Equipment Repairs: Maintain and repair mechanical and electrical assets impacting the facility, including physical structures, exterior grounds, and interior systems.Electrical & Automation Systems: Troubleshoot and maintain electrical components such as proximity switches, photoelectric sensors, pressure switches, and push buttons.Ammonia Refrigeration Maintenance: Perform basic inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on ammonia-based refrigeration systems to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.Documentation & Communication: Maintain accurate reports on inspections, maintenance procedures, and equipment status, ensuring leadership is informed of all maintenance activities.Additional Duties: Utilize power tools, welding equipment, and motorized lifts for repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:Experience: At least one year of experience in forklift maintenance, material handling equipment maintenance, industrial maintenance, or ammonia refrigeration maintenance. Trade school training may be considered.Technical Skills: Ability to complete preventative maintenance tasks independently and proficiency in operating power and hand tools.Refrigeration Knowledge: Familiarity with ammonia refrigeration systems and safety protocols is preferred.Electrical Knowledge: Comfortable working with electrical components and troubleshooting systems up to 240V.Physical Requirements: Ability to lift at least 50 lbs./23 kgs., work in temperatures as low as -20°F/-25°C (cold storage) or as high as 100°F/37°C (dry storage), and wear required PPE.Schedule Flexibility: Willing to work flexible shifts, including weekends if needed.Other Requirements: Comfortable with heights, working in noisy environments, and operating motorized lifts as needed.
