Mendocino Forest Products (MFP) is looking for an Experienced Forklift Operator to join our Shippping department in Ukiah, CA.  This is a non-exempt position at an hourly rate of $25.65! We include full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and 401K Matching.

 

The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and Allweather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Responsibilities

Drives propane or diesel-powered industrial Forklift equipped with lifting devices to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials throughout the grounds in a safe and productive manner.

Drive gasoline, liquefied gas, or electric powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials throughout the grounds.Participate constructively to the movement and warehousing of products to ensure the Business Unit can meet customer requirements for superior products in the safest and service-oriented manner available.Move levers and press pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatusPosition forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials or hook tow trucks to trailer hitch, and transports load to designated area or truckUnload and stack material by raising and lowering lifting deviceInventory materials on work floor, tallies product and maintains stock rotationLoad or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting devicePerform preoperational checks on forklifts and reports any/all service and operational concernsParticipate in the quarterly inventory auditLoad or unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or trucksCommunicate regularly with other team members and participates in team effort in work area Qualifications High school diploma or GED; Minimum two years related sawmill / planer experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experiencePossess a current forklift operator’s license, or be able to provide proof of previous forklift operator’s licenseAbility to operate a hand-held calculator, preferredWhile performing the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand; walk; use hands, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and communicateRegularly use arms and legs to get into and out of forklift multiple times a dayUse hands, wrists, and arms to operate forklift and use legs and feet to push forklift pedalsMay frequently be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawlRegularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focusThis job requires eye and hearing protection, leather/rubber gloves, safety vest, safety shoes, fall protection and hard hatThe work environment is generally loud in noise and will be exposed to inclement weather including harsh hot/cold conditions dust, dirt, grease and machine noiseBalances team and individual responsibilities; supports everyone's efforts to succeedDemonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote qualityMeets productivity standards; completes work in a timely manner; strives to increase productivityObserves safety and security procedures; determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; reports potentially unsafe conditions
