Forklift Operator

Position Profile

Responsible for the efficient and safe operation of all powered and non-powered material handling equipment. This position requires the ability to perform all warehouse functions, including but not limited to shipping, receiving, and order fulfillment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Maintain a safe work environment and ensure that all company safety policies and procedures are followed. Utilize RF equipment to accurately process all inbound (receiving), outbound (shipping), and internal orders and requisitions. Ensure all transactions processed are accurate in item and quantity and processed accordingly. Perform cycle counts and assist with inventory accuracy by performing Quality Assurance inspections as required. Provide backup support for job functions within other departments through appropriate cross-training. Perform stock consolidation to improve inventory production performance and maximize warehouse space. Maintain company 5S standards throughout the assigned area of work. Meet and maintain productivity and quality standards relative to job responsibilities as defined by the department manager. Inspect and QA all outbound freight to ensure correct items, quantities, and no damaged freight is shipped without manager approval. Palletize and load shipments to ensure no damage is incurred during transit. Load products onto LTL, TL trailers, and vans. Inspect all inbound freight for quantity and damage and complete appropriate documentation, including the carrier's BOL, as per the department's Standard Work Instruction. Maintain knowledge of and adhere to all department Standard Work Instructions to which assigned. Complete the daily forklift inspection checklist, inspect material handling equipment for proper operation, and report any needed repairs to management. Perform C-TPAT compliance inspections and documentation per standard work instructions for all inbound and outbound international shipments. Maintain operational and warehouse security per C-TPAT policy. Assist team leads with onboarding new employees. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Certifications) High school diploma or equivalent education preferred. Previous forklift certification for Reach, Dock stocker, or Sit-down forklift. RF scanner experience. Excellent math and reading comprehension skills and the ability to write legibly. Minimum of three years warehouse experience with one year of stand-up (Reach, Dock stocker) forklift experience. Must be physically able to perform assigned tasks, including walking, standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods and the ability to lift up to 100 lbs. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to take direction and complete all work assignments as instructed within established timelines. Strong team player who can work and interact with fellow co-workers. High degree of attention to detail and environment to prevent injury to others and property damage, promoting a safe work environment. Ability to multi-task. Working Conditions, Mental, and Physical Demands Must be physically able to perform assigned tasks, including significant walking, standing, bending, reaching, and safely lifting up to 50 lbs for extended periods. Physical effort is required in the lifting of tool cases and assorted equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. Typically, a warehouse environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise levels. Physical effort is required in the moving of boxes and materials weighing up to 100 lbs as well as the ability to move objects on wheels that may weigh up to 700 lbs.
