Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.
Scope of Position Deliver manufacturing process improvements with a focus on the extrusion forming process. Support daily operations as need arise in troubleshooting and problem solving manufacturing process issues, driving continuous improvement and cost reduction. Apply technical knowledge and practices to effectively accomplish technical assignments and projects. Support and lead projects to fulfill department goals and objectives in direct support of manufacturing and operations of CELCOR products. Key Responsibilities Develop project plans, timelines, cost estimates for process improvements to meet the overall manufacturing and operations objectives with a focus on extrusion process engineering Design and execute experiments, testing hypothesis that advance fundamental understand in support of extrusion process improvement Interface with operators, team leaders, and peers to develop and implement process, equipment, Lean, 5S, or safety improvements into manufacturing Provide engineering expertise and leadership for process technologies within the Diesel Manufacturing Plant’s Forming Department (Corning Environmental Technologies). Manufacturing problem solving as needed in support of operations, including root cause identification and resolution. Apply knowledge of engineering principles and methods to resolve challenges. Supports new product introductions through equipment installation, process certification, documentation, and training. Trains operators and trades personnel on new equipment and processes. Uses rigorous processes and technical knowledge to build detailed technical understanding for key process steps. Functions as a team member or team leader on focused projects. Trouble shoots material, process and equipment issues, identifies root cause and implements corrective action. Implements and documents material, process and/or equipment changes. Assure quality and repeatability of processes and products. Assures safety of operators and equipment and Complies with safety and environmental regulations. Develops SME knowledge of material, process and/or equipment in focused areas of manufacturing or engineering. Executes cost reduction and improvement (DMAIC) projects in line with business objectives. Required Education and Experience BS or MS in Engineering (Materials, Mechanical, Chemical) 0-3 years of engineering work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred Aptitude for successfully driving to root cause and implementing step change improvement in manufacturing. Project leadership aptitude, including ability to achieve results through teams. Demonstrated effectiveness at technical problem-solving and decision-making. Strong technical fundamentals with process engineering skills. Able to handle multiple complex tasks and set priorities with multiple internal customers. Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, including formulas and graphing functions. Basic knowledge of Six Sigma (DMAIC) methodology. Desired Skills Six Sigma Green Belt trained Demonstrated technical expertise in process improvement, measurement, characterization or ceramics processing

The range for this position is $66,664.00 - $91,663.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
