GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Recruit, train, study, support, mediate, certify, and re-certify relative, affinity, adoptive, and foster care providers. This position serves two purposes, 1) It Preserves Families, and 2) it Protects Children by training skilled foster care providers who will assist and mentor families and children working with The Department of Family Services. This is a part-time position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.
+ Recruit and develop new foster homes.
+ Conducts local and national background checks of potential foster homes.
+ Coordinates with Social Services Workers to develop an appropriate match between children and resource families.
+ Collaborates with external contractors and providers to make placements.
+ Supervises and supports kinship and foster families, including performance improvement activities and training.
+ Provide crisis intervention as required.
+ Facilitates and provides resource families with information to ensure foster certification.
+ Keeps personal certifications and re-certifications current.
+ Help keep children safe from harm by keeping homes compliant and children in legal placements.
+ Requires extensive travel to assess, certify, and re-certify homes.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to applicants with a bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, sociology, psychology, criminal justice, or administration of justice and experience in helping build strong families.
KNOWLEDGE:
+ Knowledge of the foster care regulations and policies.
+ Knowledge of foster care resources, including foster families, children who have been placed in their families, agency staff, and community resources.
+ Knowledge of best practices in placing children.
+ Knowledge of separation/attachment and bonding of children and families.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Social Services)
Experience:
0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Social Services Programs) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Social Services Worker
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Social Services Programs) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Social Services Worker

+ FLSA: Non-Exempt
+ This is a part-time position.
+ All positions within the Department of Family Services will require a background information check, including the taking of fingerprints, which will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, for every successful applicant.
