Supervises with respect to production volume, cost and quality of production, and the meeting of production schedules and delivery dates. Reviews, approves or disapproves the requisitioning of materials, supplies, and repairs made by subordinates.
Makes changes in methods, procedures, and equipment deemed necessary to maintain maximum safe efficiency in the foundry and makes recommendations for capital expenditures to improve performance.
Maintains compliance with company Standard Practice Instructions, safety, good housekeeping practices, and government regulatory agency provisions.
Furnishes the Plant Controller or Operations Manager with all necessary information to develop the departmental budgets, and reviews expenditures of department for conformance to the budget.
Estimates manpower requirements and recommends overall workforce changes. Establishes shift standards and work schedules within plant policy. Trains or assists in training new employees and subordinate managers.
Reviews for approval leaves of absence, promotions, merit increases, vacations and transfers. Initiates disciplinary action.
Represents the company in Employee-Management relations, including maintaining an open line of communication with all employees through department leaders.

Scope Data/Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
This position is responsible for supervising 7 salaried employees.Responsible for an Annual Department Budget.Operating on a 3-shift schedule. During periods of abnormal manufacturing demands and/or conditions, it may be required to alter normal working hours to support production operations. Long hours will be required to ensure good communication, quick reaction to problems and address employee issues promptly.Standard personal protective equipment will be required.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and Traits:
Experienced in high-volume, foundry cast products operations and in ISO 9001 procedures making use of molding equipment, Induction Heating Furnaces, Lost Foam Processes, core making and cleaning preparation. Must have a demonstrable and proven track record of bottom-line profitability impact, productivity/quality improvement and be skilled at Union workforce supervision.Must have a strong work ethic, outgoing and assertive personality and must have excellent team-building skills with subordinates as well as with peers.Basic understanding of cost accounting principles and financial statements.High School Diploma, college preferred (Business or Metallurgical Degree)10 – 15 years of foundry management in all areasWorking knowledge of foundry technologiesWe are an equal opportunity employer.
