**Description**
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mid-Level FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital design, with a focus on FPGA development, and experience with high-speed interfaces, video formats, and signal processing. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing FPGA-based systems for various applications, including high-speed data transfer, video processing, and signal processing. This role provides on-site support for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) located on Eglin AFB and is not eligible for remote work.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Design, develop, and test FPGA-based systems, including VHDL/Verilog coding, simulation, synthesis, and place-and-route
+ Develop and implement high-speed serial interfaces, such as PCIe, USB, and SATA
+ Work with video formats, including DisplayPort, HDMI, and SDI, and develop IP cores for video processing and transmission
+ Design and implement memory buffering and caching systems, including DDR3/4, QDR, and SRAM
+ Develop and implement signal processing algorithms, including filtering, modulation, and demodulation
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, and system engineering teams
+ Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and test plan development
+ Troubleshoot and debug FPGA designs, including simulation, emulation, and hardware debugging

**Qualifications**
**Requirements:**
+ Must be a U.S. citizen
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD SECRET clearance
+ Candidate must reside in proximity to customer facilities and be able to work in office
+ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
+ 5+ years of experience with FPGA design and development, including VHDL/Verilog coding and simulation
+ Experience with high-speed serial interfaces, including PCIe, USB, and SATA
+ Knowledge of video formats, including DisplayPort, HDMI, and SDI
+ Experience with memory buffering and caching systems, including DDR3/4, QDR, and SRAM
+ Familiarity with signal processing algorithms, including filtering, modulation, and demodulation
+ Proficiency with FPGA development tools, including Xilinx Vivado, Altera Quartus, or Microsemi Libero
+ Strong understanding of digital design principles, including timing analysis, clock domain crossing, and metastability
+ Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and debug complex FPGA designs
+ Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
**Nice to Have:**
+ Experience with FPGA-based video processing, including video encoding, decoding, and transcoding
+ Knowledge of display controller IP cores, including DisplayPort, HDMI, and eDP
+ Familiarity with high-speed data transfer protocols, including PCIe, USB, and SATA
+ Experience with embedded systems, including ARM, x86, or MIPS processors
+ Knowledge of operating systems, including Linux, Windows, or VxWorks
+ Familiarity with agile development methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban
