Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley National Park - Journey Beyond the Ordinary. Stovepipe Wells has an 80-room hotel, restaurant, bar, pool, gas station, general store, and gift shop. Stovepipe is a welcoming, safe, and environmentally responsible resort providing accommodations and services inside Death Valley National Park. Over the next few years, the resort will undergo upgrades to rejuvenate accommodations and dining for public enjoyment. POWDR operates Stovepipe Wells under a long-term concession contract with the National Park Service.
Position: Front Desk Staff
Location: Stovepipe Wells, CA. Inside Death Valley National Park.
Job Status: Full Time, Year-Round
Stovepipe Wells has an 80-room hotel, restaurant, bar, pool, gas station, general store, and gift shop. Stovepipe is a welcoming, safe, and environmentally responsible resort providing accommodations and services inside Death Valley National Park. Over the next few years, the resort will undergo upgrades to rejuvenate accommodations and dining for public enjoyment. Substantial renewable energy projects and energy efficiency upgrades will also be completed. POWDR operates Stovepipe Wells under a long-term concession contract with the National Park Service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Greet and assist visitors, answer questions and explain regulations.
Answer phones, handle reservations and respond to guest inquiries.
Manage reservation processes with care, precision and finesse.
Retain a report of occupied or vacant rooms and RV campsites. Distribute maps, park rules and local information.
Assist guests in locating hotel rooms, RV sites and NPS Campsite.
Inform incoming guests where family or friends are located.
Be familiar with local points of interest and the location of services that might be requested by guests such as eateries, sundries, refreshments, churches, tourist attractions and local events.
Perform basic duties in common areas to maintain an attractive and clean environment. Report any disturbances or damage to the Operations Manager.
Each hotel must be cleaned after guests check out and before guests check in.
Front Desk Staff shall not attempt to discipline or apprehend any park violators.
Front Desk Staff will report all disturbances to the Operations Manager, or designee to take action.
You are to inform guests of rules and regulations.
Always set an example by being a professional, knowledgeable, practicing good housekeeping and by observing all rules and regulations.
Front Desk Staff is expected to participate in quality visitor satisfaction comment card and post-visitor survey records, review and necessary follow-up.
Be observant for activities requiring immediate attention, notify the Operations Manager as problems arise.
Keep a written report of complaints and criticism of park facilities, report situations that could affect the health and safety of visitors and report any maintenance items which need immediate attention.
Documents employee issues and manages accordingly based on policy and procedure.
Promotes overall enjoyable staff experience by implementing positivity and fun in daily operations.
Learn and demonstrate ESQ program, environmental, safety and quality roles, responsibilities and program requirements.

Work Location:
Due to the in-person nature of the hospitality business, this position is on-site. Housing will be provided on-site.
A flexible schedule with commuting from Pahrump, Beatty or Las Vegas will be considered.
Due to the nature of our business, Stovepipe Wells Village is open every day. You must be prepared to work a schedule which may include Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Able to work and thrive in Death Valley National Park.
Technical skills for entries of reservations and quality performance.
Establish successful working relationships with co-workers, Park Service and the public.
Ability to get along well with people, be honest, punctual and reliable.
Ability to remain calm and friendly.
Ability to physically be out to make rounds throughout the resort.
Ability to adapt to changing work conditions.
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
Minimum 1 year work experience in a hospitality service position.
High school diploma required.
Current CPR w/AED and First Aid medical certification is required and certification is provided on-the-job upon hire
Compensation:
Hourly wage as agreed upon job offer. On-site housing included.
