Description We are seeking a highly skilled Front-End Developer with advanced experience in WordPress development to join our client's team on a five month contract. This role is perfect for someone with a deep understanding of custom WordPress solutions and a passion for building scalable, high-performance websites. Key Responsibilities: + Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes with a strong focus on performance and scalability. + Work within enterprise-level WordPress Multisite environments and implement parent/child theme structures. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions within constrained deployment pipelines. + Optimize websites for performance, accessibility, and security. + Use command-line tools for efficient development and deployment. + Manage code versioning using Git and maintain clean, modular code using modern web development standards. Requirements + Extensive experience with WordPress development, including custom-built themes (starter themes and no-code plugin kits are excluded). + Experience working as an all-around developer in three or more of the following contexts: + Enterprise-level WordPress Multisite + 100% custom-built themes + WordPress parent/child theme structure + Block-based or hybrid (block/classic) theme structure + Large, diverse backend user bases + WP-CLI for development and automation tasks + Proficiency in PHP 8.0+ and comfortable working with the command line. + Solid understanding of modern front-end technologies and languages: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XPath. + Familiarity with Pantheon platform (or similar hosting environments), nginx, npm, webpack, Bash, and other modern development tools. Preferred Tooling & Work Environment: + macOS environment + VSCode as the primary IDE + Command-line proficiency for managing deployment and development workflows. + Use of Google Docs and Sheets for collaboration.
