Answer and appropriately handle incoming phone calls to the main Housing and Residence Life office. Transfer or refer caller to correct departments as needed.
Use a computer and a variety of office software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, and file management.
Organize and scan housing files, both hard copy and electronic, while assuring confidentiality of records.
Assist with filing, copying, faxing, and processing of departmental paperwork.
Assist with data collection, entry, processing, verification, and analysis.
Assist with distribution incoming mail and packages.
Respond to general inquiries about housing, meal plans, and other related matters.
Operate standard office equipment (e.g., copier, fax, scanner, telephone, etc.). Assist with keeping track of office supplies.
May be asked to assist staff with daily responsibilities. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Be Federal Work Study eligible or awarded Federal Work Study funds. Ability to work 10-19 hours per week.
You must be a student in good standing; this means you need to maintain a 2.00 GPA throughout your term of employment.
Have good interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to relate to people.
You must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours each semester.
Demonstrate the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
Demonstrate good clerical and communication skills.
Answer the phone and record accurate messages for Housing and Residence Life staff.
Attend all training workshops and scheduled staff meetings.
Customer service experience

Yes Work Hours up to 19 hours per week Position Summary Information Objective The Front Office Assistant is a student position within the Department of Housing and Residence Life. The Front Office Assistants are responsible for performing a variety of front desk and clerical functions and providing quality customer service during during the hours of 8:00am – 5:00 pm on weekdays. The Front Office Assistant is responsible for assisting the Housing and Residence Life office in the effective administration of the front office. This is accomplished through working at the Front Desk of the Housing and Residence Life office and performing related tasks as assigned. Front Office Assistants are expected to behave in a mature and responsible manner, using good judgment, and abiding and enforcing institutional policies.
