EY- Finance FS – Senior – ALM-Treasury (For Life & Retirement and Investments)
As part of our EY-Finance FS Team, the individual will be responsible for working closely with Managers.
The opportunity
We’re looking for an incumbent who is competent enough to work as part of our team providing consultancy services which typically involves managing the assets and liabilities of a company to optimize financial performance, particularly within the life insurance, retirement services, and investment sectors. The role often requires a combination of financial analysis, risk management, and strategic planning skills. Below is a general outline of a job description for an ALM and Treasury role.
Your key responsibilities:
Candidate should be responsible for overseeing the asset and liability management strategies of the company's life & retirement and investment portfolios. The role includes managing the company's financial resources to ensure liquidity, investment returns, and compliance with policies and regulatory requirements. The following area of expertise is required to provide ALM & Treasury Solutions for EY clients using Global Service Delivery (GDS) Framework:Asset Liability Management: Develop and implement strategies for managing the company's assets and liabilities, including loans, investments, and deposits, interest rate risk, and liquidity risk Monitor and manage the company's investment portfolio to align with the liability profile along with Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB) and other banking book exposures, such as Foreign Exchange (FX) Perform cash flow modelling and scenario analysis to assess the impact of market changes on the company's financial position Analysing the drivers of the NIM and developing approaches that can help stabilise future earnings Work closely with actuaries to understand the liability structures and develop investment strategies that support the company's obligations
Treasury and Liquidity Management: Assessment, review and improvement of the adequacy and appropriateness of Treasury’s strategies to optimise the bank's liquidity position, including managing cash reserves, borrowing facilities, and asset-liability matching. Manage cash flow forecasting and oversee daily cash management activities. Optimize the company's cash position through efficient treasury operations and working capital management. Implement treasury policies and procedures to optimize cash management and minimize financial risks while overseeing capital management and funding strategies.
Funding and Capital Management: Conduct market research and analysis to identify investment opportunities. Oversee the issuance of debt and equity as needed to finance company operations. Evaluate and report on investment performance and risk exposure. Ensure compliance with investment policies and regulatory requirements.
Risk Management: Identify and assess financial risks related to currency, interest rates, credit, and liquidity. Implement risk management tools and techniques, such as derivatives and swaps, to hedge against financial risks. Monitor and manage risks associated with the investment portfolio, including credit risk, market risk, and operational risk. Develop risk management policies and procedures.
Financial Analysis and Reporting: Analyse financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas of concern. Provide financial analysis to support business decisions and new product development. Prepare reports on ALM and treasury activities for senior management and the board of directors. Support the budgeting and financial planning processes with insights from treasury operations. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards. Liaise with auditors and regulatory bodies as required.
Skills and attributes for success:
Good understanding of ALM and Treasury functions. Good understanding of Life & Retirement and Investments areas for Insurance industry. Proficiency in financial modelling and risk assessment tools. Strong understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, and regulatory environments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with investors and senior management.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline such as accounting designation (CA, CPA & MBA-Finance), or an equivalent combination of related experience and education. A minimum of 6-8 years of experience in finance, with a focus on Insurance Industry.
