FSQA Manager

Job Summary:

\n

The Food Safety/Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager is responsible for all quality assurance functions in the Carthage, MO plant including the raw product processing and further processing departments. This role also oversees the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) program, Salmonella control programs, Quality program and all related policies and procedures.  The FSQA Manager acts as the liaison between the USDA and the Company’s internal departments such as: Research & Development, Sales, and Operations. This individual will oversee financial budgets, is responsible for managing FSQA personnel, and conducting audits as well as following up on deficiencies. The FSQA Manager will represent FSQA at meetings and outside seminars, in addition to other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:

\n\nManages day to day FSQA functions for the facility including raw processing and further processing manufacturing and packaging areas.  \nImplements robust quality control processes, conducts inspections, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.  \nLeads and manages a team of FSQA professionals by providing guidance, training, and mentoring to achieve departmental objectives.   \nTasked with overseeing staffing, managing overtime, and budget allocation.  \nConducts regular inspections and audits of production processes, raw materials, and finished products to identify and address any quality issues/failures.   \nCollaborates with cross-functional teams, including Operations, R&D, and Supply Chain to resolve quality-related concerns and implement corrective action. \nEngages with customer and consumer feedback proactively, employing thorough root cause analysis and implementing impactful preventive measures. Entrusted with the integral role of overseeing data handling, intricate analysis, and comprehensive reporting processes.  \nResponsible for conducting audits for products, suppliers, warehousing, and customer as deemed necessary.  \nConducts thorough time audits of the processing environment, the outside grounds, and the facility.  \nStays up to date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously enhance the FSQA program. \nPerforms other duties as assigned.  \n\n

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

\n\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders. \nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve quality issues.\nCross-functional team leadership skills including the ability to coaching/mentoring.\nProficient in working autonomously under minimal supervision. \nThorough and practical knowledge of USDA regulations and directives.\nDemonstrates an understanding of K-12 and CN programs (School Lunch Program: Kindergarten- 12th Grade and Child Nutrition).\nFunctional knowledge of meat processing; particularly Further Processing (FP).\nKnowledge of pest control practices and sanitation cleaning procedures is preferred.\nAbility to utilize inventory management programs. \nProficient in Microsoft Office Suites (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.) and Google Chrome. \n\n

Education & Experience: 

\n\n B.S. or B.A. degree (or equivalent) in Food Science, Meat Science, Poultry Science or related field required.\n           Over 5+ years of relevant experience in a comparable position. \n           HACCP Certification preferred (required to obtained within the first year of employment).\n\n

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:   

\n\nRequires adaptability in scheduling to address staffing conflicts effectively. \nMust be able to work in a variety of settings including the office, outside grounds, laboratory, and the Plant production floor. \nAbility to travel to several Plant locations up to 10% of the time.\nPhysical requirements of the position include sitting, standing, and walking for prolonged periods of time.\nPossibility of being exposed to varying conditions in the Plant setting, such as cold areas, warm areas, chemicals, and other site conditions.\n\n
