Job Summary:***An on-campus presence and traditional in-person teaching is required for this position.***
Full-Time Faculty in this position teach courses in didactic and lab formats at all levels of EMT, Paramedic, and/or Community Paramedicine training. Courses are taught consistent with current developments in the discipline and teaching methods. Faculty are expected to work collaboratively with the Program Director, department coordinators, and other faculty to develop course content consistent with official course syllabi, State of Michigan EMS guidelines, and accreditation standards. Duties include planning & preparation of course materials, delivery of instruction to students, assessment and grading, and assisting students outside of class. This position must actively participate in curriculum and course development, course assessment, department/program meetings, advisory board meetings, professional development activities, Divisional and College-wide committees, mentoring and reviewing of peers, etc. A focus on continual improvement of programs and learning outcomes is required. Faculty must demonstrate a commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population, as well as work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy.
An on-campus presence and traditional in-person teaching is required. Depending upon program needs and the candidate’s qualifications, teaching assignments will be primarily on LCC’s downtown Lansing campus with the possibility of other campus and/or online assignments.
Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.
Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.
Required Qualifications:Associate’s Degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited college or university.
Current unencumbered State of Michigan Paramedic license; certification must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
Current EMS Instructor Coordinator (IC) certification; certification must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS Certification for healthcare providers; certification must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
Significant work experience in the field.
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Three years of teaching experience at the college level.
Course management system (Desire2Learn, Canvas, Blackboard, Angel, etc.) experience.
Current Instructor status in BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including email, electronic calendars, presentation software, etc.
Demonstrated analysis, communication, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to utilize a variety of teaching methodologies, including online strategies
