Fuels Marketing Signage & Compliance Specialist

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
As the Fuels Marketing Signage & Compliance Specialist for Murphy USA, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, researching, documenting, understanding, coordinating, obtaining, and implementing all regulatory permits and signage at our stores to mitigate regulatory risks. You will stay updated on changes in laws, regulations, and guidelines that affect the company’s processes. You may also prepare for and assist with regulatory audits and inspections, ensuring that the company’s systems and processes meet regulatory standards and compliance requirements. Additionally, you will establish working relationships with various internal departments, agencies, trade groups, jurisdictions, and municipalities to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Understand all regulatory requirements for new and existing stores (product specifications and signage requirements).
2. Work with the Permits & Licenses and Environmental to ensure the proper applications and renewals for permits related to specific product offers or underground tank certifications are in place.
3. Work closely with multiple departments to ensure all our stores meet and continue to meet all regulatory requirements.
4. Become an expert on all regulatory requirements related to our product offer across our Retail network.
5. Maintain electronic files of existing regulations.
6. Maintain regulatory requirements for our stores that will inform signage or fuel products.
7. Work with local counsel as required to ensure compliance.
8. Keep informed of proposed or pending regulatory changes to understand the potential impact on our operations.
9. Coordinate with the Product & Supply teams to ensure stores remain compliant in the event of a regulation change, change in product offering, or as product specifications change during the year.
10. Develop a comprehensive desk manual that creates standardized processes and streamlines procedures in an organized manner. Responsible for team member cross-training.
11. Compile research findings to illustrate the impact on MUSA that can be used for presentations.
12. Assist in auditing programs, processes, and procedures for compliance or risk.
13. Assist in researching violations by an inspector.
14. Travel may sometimes be required to attend conferences, meetings with vendors, or visit stores.
15. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as business, computer, etc. Equivalent to four years in college or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Some fuels and regulatory experience are preferred.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read and understand documents such as federal or state regulations, policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with internal customers, governmental agencies, trade organizations, general public and other employees of the organization; Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and internal customers.
SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED
Intermediate: Contact Management, Database, Presentation/PowerPoint, Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing
Basic: 10-Key, Alphanumeric Data Entry
