Your role:
We are seeking a highly experienced Full Stack Engineer to join our dynamic team in the Merck Data and AI Organization. This role requires a product-oriented mindset, a passion for cloud technologies, and a deep understanding of building, automating, and deploying complex services to production in Foundry environments. You will serve as the team's key expert on cloud security, networking, and cloud-native toolchains for observability and monitoring, while driving cloud data infrastructure excellence.
Are you ready to build the design and align operations of our cloud-native data & analytics technology stack consisting of AWS and Palantir Foundry? As an Engineer, you are responsible for designing and architecting the engineering & operations of our global data and analytics technology stack. To be successful in this role you will need to act as an authority figure who will guide our four sectors to ensure best practices are applied when leveraging the Palantir Foundry platform alongside AWS. As part of the newly established Data Office, you will work closely with the Lead Product Manager. You will provide thought leadership for a team of Data, Cloud, and DevOps engineers. Your focus together with the engineering team is on implementing and operating a cloud-based technology stack for data & analytics, building up our engineering best practices and Continuous Integration & Deployment (CI/CD), and providing guidance to junior engineers within the team and beyond. You use your creativity to find innovative, fast, and sustainable solutions while ensuring security, compliance with regulations (e.g. GxP), scalability, and uptime of our distributed cloud-based environments. You drive the technical foundation for advanced platform topics such as Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and (ML-)Ops in close collaboration with the Architecture team. You focus on both the cloud-native data & analytics technology stack and the frame for all data & analytics solutions delivered within the ecosystem. You will also take over functional leadership responsibility to drive the evolution of the technology stack, leading and coaching other engineers as we build out our engineering capabilities across the company.
Who you are:
You have a B.Sc. (or higher) Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related fieldYou are strong in hands-on software development, and you have a strong track record focusing on software delivery with profound experience building cloud-native systemsYou have technical leadership experience building & tutoring engineering team to deliver complex software and services You have extensive skills in ETL design and development using Python, PySpark or Java You know the landscape of cloud technologies and services required from ingesting, storing, and manipulating data to building advanced analytics, and have in-depth experience and ideally relevant certification with services with AWS, Palantir Foundry or Azure (Architect, Networking, Security, SysOps)You can establish software engineering best practices incl. DevOps/MLOps, working cross-functionally, enabling more junior team members and other stakeholders to do the sameYou possess proficiency and experience with infrastructure as code, good API design practices, Linux containers, and containerized applicationsYou understand the concepts of various fields of software engineering, such as web frontends and backends, SQL and NoSQL databases, continuous integration and continuous deployment, as well as system security and identity managementYou are experienced with version control (git), automated testing, continuous integration, and deployment (also including Continuous Deployment for Machine Learning / CD4ML)You are an excellent team player who takes accountability and thinks cross-functional You are proficient in English
