Job Description:
Berklee College of Music invites nominations and applications for a full-time faculty position in
the Brass Department. The department provides private instruction, ensemble coaching, and
specialized courses to develop technical proficiency, stylistic versatility, and professional
readiness. The curriculum covers a range of styles, including Black American music, pop, and
world music, with an emphasis on contemporary brass performance, improvisation, and music
technology.
This full-time position reports to the Chair of Brass in the Professional Performance Division.
The successful candidate will be an experienced and innovative educator who will actively
contribute to the department and the Berklee community. Rank and salary will be
commensurate with experience. Appointment to begin September 1, 2025.
Responsibilities:
Studio teaching of brass students at varied levels, focusing on improvisation, bebop,soul, and Afro-Latin music styles.
Development and instruction of labs, courses, and ensembles.
Participation in meetings, recital juries, exams, auditions, and recruitment efforts.
Student mentoring and advising on artistic development and career pathways.
Contributing to departmental and college-wide events, including performances,workshops, and community engagement (both in-person and online).
Serving on committees at the department, division, and/or college level.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Renowned artist/educator with an established national/international reputation as aperformer and demonstrated evidence of successful teaching.
Proficiency in diverse brass styles and the ability to teach brass pedagogy, improvisation, and contemporary brass techniques.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a student-centered approach.
Command of technology for instructional support, including music software and digital tools.
Master of Music or equivalent professional experience required.
Commitment to anti-racism, equity, and multicultural understanding in teaching, performance, and curriculum development.
