71331BRAuto req ID:71331BRDepartment:34673 - Medical Staff Job Description:Hospitalist provides efficient and quality management of inpatient hospital care by facilitating the efficient use of hospital resources and assuring quality patient care services. The Hospitalist works with medical staff members, nursing personnel, case managers, and other ancillary personnel on the coordination of patient care. The Hospitalist coordinates care of the patient with the referring physician upon admission to and discharge from Brooks-TLC, including recommending scheduling of follow-up office visits with the referring physician and facilitating any necessary post-acute care such as home health services. The Hospitalist reviews discharge instructions with the patient at the time of discharge. Interaction is optimal to quality health care and a seamless transition back to the referring physician. In addition to the written record, prompt verbal communication is required.Location:Brooks Memorial Hospital Recruiter:Vanessa BorowiakTitle:Full-Time Nocturnist HospitalistMinimum or Preferred Qualifications:Education (Minimum Needed): Graduate of an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy. Specialized Knowledge Needed for Performance of Job: BLS certification and advanced life support certifications if relevant to practice area (BLS, ACLS, PALS, etc.). Be Board certified and maintain Board certification in Internal Medicine. Current New York State License to practice profession and Federal Drug Enforcement Administration registration certificate. Ability to multitask: Should be able to handle multiple responsibilities concurrently, such as overseeing patient care and attending important committee meetings. Prioritization: The Hospitalist is a leader. The ability to evaluate what must be done, rearrange the day accordingly based on importance, and ability to lead a team to accomplish goals is needed to be successful in this role. Professionalism: As a liaison between hospital administration and physicians as well as a practicing physician, a professional demeanor is necessary. Conveying news to a patient or patient’s family that could be detrimental must be handled in the most professional manner. Superb communication skills: The Hospitalist must be able to communicate professionally and effectively via email, memos and staff notices. Primary accountability and results for specific functions.
