The OR Certified surgical technologist scrubs a wide variety of different procedures and has knowledge and skill to adapt to changes in the patient’s condition. Minimum Requirements + High school Diploma or GED. + Proof of current certification designated as Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) provided through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Must maintain active certification to retain position. + Current BLS and must remain current to retain position + Has completed OR department orientation and passed the skills competency tests + Ability to stand for the majority of the work time; sometimes wearing a 10 lb. x-ray apron for several hours at a time; lifting 50lbs. pushing/pulling 125lbs.,frequent lifting 1-25 lb. sterile trays during the course of the day. + Good communication and written skills. + Ability to handle stressful situations and changing conditions; flexibility to adapt to scheduling changes and changes in patient condition. + Good time management skills and ability to be self-directed. **Working at University Health is about making a difference.
