We are seeking a talented RN to join our Behavioral Health Float Pool, where you will have the opportunity to work on various units within the Adult Psychiatry, Adolescent Psychiatry and, Addiction departments. This position offers a night shift, providing flexibility and exposure to diverse patient populations and healthcare teams.

The Registered Nurse Float 2 provides safe patient care at a basic level and show growth in your ability to care for increasingly complex patients. Determines processes for delivery of care from direct patient/family communication, technology and other healthcare team member collaboration. Manages care and implements treatment plans at a basic skill level in collaboration with patients, their families, and members of the health care delivery team. Consistently provides safe and therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way while incorporating differences into the provision of care. Serves as a resource, preceptor and mentor while demonstrating leadership skills in decision making and problem solving. Serves as an empowering body to influence patient empowerment as well as successful outcomes of financial and clinical quality through relationships and access based knowledge. Assignments in Float pool will be limited as deemed appropriate by hiring leader.
Job Responsibilities
Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships
Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice
Supports and empowers patient/families as they progress through the healthcare continuum from health promotion to end of life decisions
Advocates for patients' rights from the patient/family perspective while providing counsel and acting as a resource to resolve issues
Anticipates ethical, spiritual and cultural needs of patients and intervenes to maximize patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning
Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation
Evaluates the outcomes of documentation and contributes to related performance improvement initiatives
Assists staff with assessing patients' learning needs and outcomes measurement of patient education
Collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and leads other disciplines to meet desired outcomes
Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others, has respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines and uses an integrated approach toward achieving desired patient outcomes
Keeps informed of unit initiatives and incorporates the outcomes of team or committee work into practice
Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to healthcare team members
Identifies own learning needs and develops professional goals, seeks opportunities to obtain education to enhance practice, collaborates in the development and implementation of educational plans for identified needs, and reviews self-development plan and professional goals
Demonstrates evidence of self-development by obtaining a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintains own Team Member Continuing Education Record
May perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
Two years Behavioral Health nursing experience required
BSN or MSN. If Associates Degree RN, within 5 years of start date,
BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification required (AHA) American Heart Association
RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a RN
ACLS and NIHSS (or obtained within 4 weeks of start date)
