No Exceptional COCC Benefits Summary CLICK HERE TO VIEW BENEFITS & PERKS Primary Purpose The Full-Time Temporary Faculty Welding develops and delivers instruction to students on the topic of introductory and advanced Welding Technology, directs hands-on lab and evaluates student performance in the classroom. In addition, this position develops curriculum, assesses student learning, and provides student advising. CTE Program Director Information: Every CTE program has a Program Director. As faculty within the Manufacturing Technology program, you may be asked to perform the job duties of the Program Director for the program. In the event that this designation is given, you will be provided with the information regarding this position prior to any appointments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities + You will provide dynamic instruction with a focus on welding and fabrication using approved course outcome guides. + You will develop and deliver engaging, hands-on learning projects for students that meet the hiring needs of local industry employers. + You will work in a team environment with fellow Manufacturing Technology faculty and program staff to grow and improve the program. + You will advise students on their education plans and career paths, helping advisees create academic plans that work towards their career goals. + You will model and demonstrate safe practices in a shop setting to ensure students are ready for employment. + You will build partnerships with local industry and high school instructors to ensure a strong pipeline of students in the program and build job placements for degree and certificate completers. Department Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the duties and responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. The individual is expected to follow College work rules and policies. + Thorough knowledge in the field of welding and fabrication and a demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge. Welding processes include SMAW , GTAW , FCAW , and GMAW . + Ability to adapt and use a variety of teaching and assessment techniques. + Ability to observe, direct, and oversee students, ensuring safety in the classroom and/or laboratory. + Ability to support expansion of the program to incorporate future trends in manufacturing and provide skill levels necessary to respond to this evolving, changing industry and workforce in Central Oregon. + Ability to work comfortably in a team-teaching environment using the full range of teaching modes. + Ability to adapt and use a variety of teaching and assessment techniques including the use of technology to enhance student success. + Ability to observe, direct, and oversee students ensuring safety in the classroom or laboratory. + Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office suite and other technology used in the instruction setting. + Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with diverse colleagues, staff, and community members. + Ability to provide services to students in a manner which does not discriminate as to race, creed, religion, color, national origin, disability, age, sex, sexual preference or marital status. + Willingness to travel and or teach at various hours and locations, as required. + Ability to foster a collaborative atmosphere among students and the willingness to work as a member of a team with faculty. Ergonomic Requirements Ability to work in classroom and office environments using computers, white boards, projectors, and other basic office equipment. Ability to operate program equipment including, but not limited to CNC and manual lathes and mills, cutters, forklifts, and other machines. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Minimum Requirements Education: + An AAS degree or credential in welding or relevant field with a minimum of 24 quarter hours (16 semester hours) of credit in manufacturing. Experience: + One year of relevant experience working in the field. + Demonstrated successful teaching, or evidence for the potential for excellence in teaching. Preferred Qualifications Education: + Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Experience: + Teaching experience in a community college, or other higher education, environment. + Work experience in an industrial setting.
