This opening is due to Ford continuing to increase the emphasis on Functional Safety across the Company, to deliver complex Features and Software Systems with quality. Our vision is to develop/evolve the most efficient Functional Safety process with the best-in-class Functional Safety expertise throughout the enterprise on all programs to deliver the most robust Feature and System designs.

Mission 

As the leader of a Functional Safety team, you will supervise a section of engineers who are responsible for the application of Functional Safety on features classified as Closures Windows Mirrors. Key outcomes for the remainder of 2025 include: 

Deliver Functional Safety on the Enclosure Platform system.  Deliver Functional Safety work products for 40+ Closures Windows Mirrors (CWM) features which includes developing the Feature Document, HARA, Functional Safety Concept, Safety Requirement Specification, and Safety V&V Report on all programs and architectures.  Provide support to the Core Functional Safety Team for continuous improvements to the Functional Safety processes, guidelines, and trainings materials.  Provide support to component supplier teams aligning to the Functional Safety process with guidance on Development Interface Agreements and aiding in the technical supplier safety assessment reviews for ASIL rated software and hardware design strategies.

Minimum Requirements: 

Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science 4+ year experience in Systems Engineering or Functional Safety and must be a demonstrated leader in that area including experience with application on vehicle program Experience using Model Based Systems Engineering tools  

Preferred Requirements: 

Master's degree in engineering or computer science Experience in ISO 26262 and hazard analyses techniques such as HAZOP, FTA, FMEA, and STPA

Direct the activities of the team and manage workload as required. Hold regular team meeting to ensure group alignment. Cascade information from senior management. Conduct Regular 1 on 1 sessions with employees. Complete employee interim and annual performance reviews. Set employee and team Objectives. Identify and support section training needs, inclusive of Agency and Purchase Service.  Solve problems by managing internal and external escalation of issues not resolved at GSR level. Provide technical guidance to the team to develop high quality system designs for Functional Safety that are delivered on-time.
