What is the Lead Analyst – Fund Operations & Reporting - HYD Alt Fund Admin & Rptng Group responsible for?Responsibility for the controllership of moderate to high complexity funds and for independently reviewing and analyzing financial reports and ensuring that all reporting deadlines are met.
This role is the first level of escalation point for work queries from the analysts and/or senior analysts and involves providing training and assisting the Manager in ensuring appropriate workflow planning is completed for the analysts and/or senior analysts.
It would involve participation in new business development including fund launches and fund restructuring, proactive engagement in process design and process reengineering as well as leading/co-leading short to medium term projects and initiatives.
Client Interactions would be part of the role with significant exposure to various FTS departments, regular exposure to internal FTI clients and external FTI parties/vendors.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Lead Analyst – Fund Operations & Reporting?Review of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual financial statements of moderate to high complexity funds and other reporting documents for GAAP, industry and client requirements.
Review of daily, weekly, and monthly fund closing NAV packages including related supporting schedules and reconciliations on expenses accruals, rate of returns, capital activity, liquidity terms and asset allocations for internal and external reporting requirements.
Regular interactions with clients, third party service providers and sub-advisors to resolve operational issues on complex matters related to fund operations.
Preparation and/or review of periodic reports for investors, Boards of Directors, Trustees and/or Audit Committees.
Assisting/co-leading with Managers, the year end audit process including organizing the routine elements of the year-end audit process and working with external auditors to resolve queries. Support the Manager on strategic or critical audit issues.
Manage compilation of data for regulatory reporting and tax filings to service providers for tax return preparation. Lead team members in reporting and data gathering requirements and with the responsibility for meeting deadlines.
Proactively identify potential improvements in work processes and client service by working closely with Manager to implement these. Participation in departmental/divisional projects, by taking a lead on initiatives related to new product launches, regulatory initiatives, and inter-departmental projects.
Provide ongoing support to clients (e.g. fund managers, sales and marketing, performance and risk, internal and external boards) including answering ad hoc queries and working with managers on special assignments for clients (e.g. additional client reporting for their regulator or Board Papers). Act as a key point of contact with other FTS Business units to provide client service support.
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business.
Fully qualified CA/CPA/ACCA.
Knowledge of sound accounting principles and standards.
Requires five to eight years of financial reporting experience with an emphasis on the review of financial statements and accompanying supporting schedules.
Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
Solves a wide range of complex problems.
Works independently, receives minimal guidance.
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
