Funerals and Visitations
Provides support under the direction of the Funeral DirectorPlacing caskets in chapels prior to visitations or funeralsArranging around caskets floral offerings, lights, pedestals, etc.Greeting and providing guidance to family members at various servicesOffering assistance to mourners as they enter or exit limousinesActing as a pallbearer, as neededTransporting flowers to hearses or limousinesCleaning and arranging funeral chapelsEnsure that services run smoothly as plannedMay drive the hearse, limousine or other vehicle in the funeral procession or other funeral related activitiesRemovals and Transfers
Assists licensed embalmers or apprentices with removals and transfersEmbalming and Associated Services
Cares for deceased in a respectful manner while performing a variety of tasksEmbalming, including verifying identification of the deceased and obtaining authorization for embalmingRestoring, dressing, styling hair and/or applying cosmeticsPreparing cremated remains, including container selection, paperwork and identification proceduresAdheres to all applicable professional, municipal, state/provincial and federal licensing authority regulationsPromotes a safe work environment be being aware of and practicing universal precautions and adopting general principles of safe conductAssists with maintenance of preparation room and the facilityReceive caskets and other funeral home suppliesPerforms additional duties as assignedEDUCATIONAL/Experience/MINIMUM Requirements
Education
High school diploma or general equivalency degree (or diploma)Experience
Minimum 6 months experienceCertification/Licenses
Must meet all licensing requirement in applicable state/province as required by law as prescribed by each state boardValid driver’s licenseKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of computers and some software or willingness to learnHigh level of compassion and integrityGood communication skillsProblem solving skillsAbility to multi task and set prioritiesWork CONDITIONS
Work EnvironmentWork indoors and outdoors during all seasons and weather conditionsLimited amount of local and/or multiple location traveling requiredProfessional Dress is required when in contact with families. Work PosturesFrequent, continuous periods of time standing, up 6 hours per daySitting continuously for many hours per day, up to 6 hours per dayClimbing stairs to access buildings frequentlyPhysical DemandsPhysical effort requiring manual dexterity is required, including paperwork, calculators, computers, and phone usageWork HoursShift work is required, working weekends and on-call business needsCompensation:
Salary: $20.30/hr. - $26.30/hr.
