Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it. **About Large Power Systems Division (LPSD):** We design and manufacture the most comprehensive lineup of large diesel and natural gas engines in the industry, as well as engine components and powertrains. **Job Summary:** Caterpillar in Hodges, SC has an opening for a Furnace Operator on 2nd shift. In this role, you will be responsible for charge make-up and delivery of iron. You will also set, adjust, and operate controls of one or more induction or arc furnaces to melt metal for casting purposes. **What you will do (may include, but are not limited to):** + Operates control station to monitor and control melting station + Analyzes control signals + Controls melting operations + Detects deviations and initiates corrective action **Basic Qualifications:** + Experience in iron pouring, ladle repair, furnace charging and furnace operation + Must be willing to learn or understand basic gray/ductile iron charge make-up to produce iron that meets required specifications + Verbal and written communication skills + Ability to frequently lift and carry boxes weighing up to 35 pounds + Ability to stand throughout a 10-hour shift + Ability to operate heavy machinery and manufacturing equipment **Top candidates will also have:** + Previous machine shop, foundry, or manufacturing experience + Problem solving and decision-making + Math skills + Effective communication skills **Additional Information:** + 2nd shift hours are Monday- Friday 2PM-10:30PM + Please frequently check the email associated with your application, including the junk/spam folder, as this is the primary correspondence method.
