Future of flight - Structural Integrity Lead Mechanical Engineer
Job Description SummaryAt Avio Aero, a GE Aerospace Company, we’ve been reimagining the power of flight for more than 100 years. We are specialized in the design, production and maintenance of components and systems for engine and mechanical transmissions applied to both civil and military aviation (i.e., accessory drivetrains, engine thermal management, turboprop & helicopter reduction gearboxes, etc.).

Working as part of an integrated global team, in this role you will contribute to the mechanical design and structural analysis of Advanced Systems & Products and their technology maturation vehicles, with the aim at supporting product evolution and preliminary design activities for future programs.
In this role you will utilize your experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, contributing to deliver advanced products that better meet customers, partners and programs needs.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

Contribute to system and component structural integrity assessments to support product definition (e.g. advanced modelling, fatigue assessments, non linear analysis, …)

Assess system and component dynamic analysis to support product definition (e.g. Rotodynamics, system natural frequencies, frequency responses, components dynamics, Campbell diagrams, …)

Apply probabilistic design methods and optimization techniques to system / component design analysis

Provide and strengthen technical knowledge expertise of the Section in structural integrity discipline, as well as develop hardware owner physical understanding, guiding components design for optimized weight/cost

Issue pre/post-processing and results reports according to engineering policies and procedures, as well as contribute to and participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews.

Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data to the extended team

Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives

Share engineering information and promote open dialogue

Qualifications/Requirements

Master's Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university

Previous proven experience in structural integrity analyses involving non-linear modelling (material and contacts), dynamic assessments, sub-modelling

Good knowledge in structural failure criteria, fatigue analysis, dynamic analysis

Deep knowledge of CAE tools as Ansys (preferred), Nastran

Basic knowledge of CAD tools (e.g. Unigraphics NX)

Good interpersonal and communication skills, Team working and inclusiveness proven capabilities. Clear thinking, diligent approach and task oriented

English and Italian language fluent knowledge, both written and oral

Work Visa in accordance with local regulation is required
