In collaboration with Home and Hospital Teaching (HHT) under the direction of the NIH Children's School Director, plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for pediatric patients participating in medical research protocols an the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure Success for Every Student. Supervises students in a variety of hospital related settings. Monitors and evaluates student outcomes. Communicates and interacts with students, parents, school colleagues, medical staff and the NIH community. Develops, selects and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum: Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university. Preferred: Master's degree, special education experience, multi-lingual, 5 years classroom experience or equivalent.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Meets Maryland state certification requirements in appropriate field of education. Holds an Active Maryland teaching certificate, or will transfer or renew their teaching certificate in Maryland within one year of hire date.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Optional events may include attending NIH Children's School, NIH-wide, NIH Clinical Center, or The Children's Inn meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day.
