The Weekend Gallery Assistant is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Gallery of Iconic Guitars and the Frederick Hart Studio Museum, including visitor services, administrative duties, and data management. This position has three essential functions: operating the galleries at the Lila D. Bunch Library, providing oversight for student docents on the weekend, and assisting the Collections Manager with projects.
The Successful candidate will have a strong customer service ethic; a team-orientated work style; and well-developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. The ability to work independently to organize and prioritize multiple assignments is critical to this position as is thoroughness and attention to detail.
To provide oversight of the Gallery of Iconic Guitars and the Frederick Hart Studio Museum and their respective student docents during weekend operating hours Friday and Saturday.
Supervise gallery docents and provide support for tours in gallery spaces.Sell and redeem tickets for admission to gallery spaces.Assist with tours of the gallery spaces.Welcome visitors and inform them of gallery policies, answer guest questions, provide wayfinding instructions and encourage engagement.Assist with set up of signage, ticketing and queuing areas prior to museum opening.Provide timely communication with the Collections Manager and Library Director regarding tours, docents, and any security issues. Serve as liaison between galleries and library staff on issues related to visitor services, docents, and gallery information. Reports any deficiencies of equipment or facilities to the Library Director and Collections Manager. Open and close gallery spaces and reach out to security to secure spaces when closed. Adhere to library building policies and ensure docents and visitors are adhering to these policies.
