**Purpose and Scope:** Operate and maintain the AAAF growing options (such as greenhouse, hydroponic, hoop house, container, or garden/soil solutions) and maximize/optimize production of local produce to generate cost savings to Government and maintain/increase food quality on island. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF). **Essential Responsibilities:** + Operate and maintain the AAAF growing options (such as greenhouse, hydroponic, hoop house, container, or garden/soil solutions) and maximize/optimize production of local produce to generate cost savings to Government and maintain/increase food quality on island. + Comply with the AAAF Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan. This may require segregating organic waste from other wastes. + Use composting to the maximum extent possible to dispose of left-over food and compostable wares. **Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:** + Minimum of three (3) years of proven gardening experience. + High school diploma or equivalent training & experience. + Ability to read and write English is required. + Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills. + Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team. + Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment. + Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location. + Must be a USN to fill this position. + Possess a valid driver’s license and passport. + Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment. **Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:** + Able to stand for long periods of time such as eight (8) to ten (10) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies. + Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and boxes up to 50 pounds. + Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable. + Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions. + Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions. + Ability to travel domestically and internationally. **OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES** **Safety** - Amentum enforces a safety culture whereby all employees have the responsibility for continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment.
