Gas Controller
**Job Summary** Under direct supervision of the Shift Lead or Chief, the Gas Controller is responsible for monitoring & controlling the gas distribution system via SCADA. Gas Controllers are required to monitor & Control the available assets of the six NiSource Local Distribution Companies (LDCs). The Gas Control department is required to have minimum staffing 24/7/365. **Essential Functions** + A Gas Controller is required to make decisions and take immediate action as necessary to ensure safe & reliable delivery of natural gas to our customers. This involves interacting with Supply and Optimization personnel, departments within the NiSource LDCs, major customers, supply pipelines, and neighboring LDCs + The Gas Controller shall take immediate action and inform leadership/affected stakeholders for issues including but not limited to: safety alarms, supply data, operating information, for the NiSource Gas Distribution (NGD) companies. + Monitor and control supply targets given to them by Gas Schedulers and Traders. **Required Qualifications For Position** + Associate’s Degree or Technical Certification, or work experience with transferrable skills + Able to pass DOT random drug testing + Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift as scheduled: Day/night shift, weekdays/weekends, holidays + Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers & peers + Ability to communicate effectively via phone, and other forms of electronic communication + Demonstrated ability to work well in team environment and provide guidance when needed + Punctual/reliable attendance + Able to make decisions with less than accurate or incomplete information + Able to meet DOT operator qualification criteria within an 18 month timeframe + Adaptable to shift work and able to work extended hours + Able to distinguish colors + Able to learn new information quickly + Adept and comfortable with the use of computer technology and complex systems + Strong organizational skills + Able to be responsive during critical operating situations on 7 day x 24 hour basis **Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position** + Experience working night shifts or a rotating type shift schedule + Experience working weekends and holidays + Prior experience with Supervisory, Control, and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems + Knowledge of pipeline (interstate, intrastate, and/or LDC) operations and systems + Familiarity with spreadsheet application usage + Demonstrated experience/knowledge evaluating historical data and trends for the purposes of evaluating cause and effect **Work Authorization** Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship. **Inclusion & Diversity** Value inclusion within your day to day responsibilities by respecting others perspectives/convictions, engaging others opinions, creating a safe environment where people, ideas, and opinions are valued within your Team/Customers and external partners.
