A Gas Training and Quality Specialist (OQ) Evaluator plays a crucial role in enhancing the safety and efficiency of the energy sector. The primary responsibility of this role will be to administer comprehensive Operator Qualification programs, focusing on training, testing, and evaluating personnel to ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. In this role, the Training and Quality Specialist will utilize their advanced knowledge of the natural gas industry to enhance the workforce’s acumen across multiple areas within the organization. An ideal candidate is a well-rounded professional capable of supporting both training initiatives and safety compliance effectively.
Essential Functions:
+ Ensure that all activities follow relevant local, state, and federal health and safety laws. Stay updated with new legislation and adapt safety programs accordingly.
+ Foster a workplace culture where safety is prioritized, encouraging employee engagement in safety practices and continuous improvement in safety standards.
+ Design and conduct training programs to improve skills and organizational performance.
+ Assess training effectiveness by gathering feedback, monitoring employee performance, and adjusting strategies.
+ Develop, organize, and maintain training materials, including manuals, guides, and course materials.
+ Assess candidates' competencies through rigorous testing methods, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for improvement.
+ Cultivate a skilled workforce equipped to handle the challenges of the gas industry, ultimately contributing to public safety and operational excellence.
+ Create training materials, maintaining accurate records of evaluations, collaborating with industry stakeholders to stay current with regulatory changes, and fostering a culture of safety within the organization.
+ Promote an unwavering commitment to quality and safety that is instrumental in shaping the future of the gas industry.
+ Ensure that all personnel meet the necessary qualifications to perform their roles effectively.
+ Develop and maintain strong partnerships with HSE and Operational teams.
+ Possess the ability to travel 25% of the time.
Education/Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
+ Professional certifications in HSE (e.g., BCSP, OSHA, NCCER) is preferred, but not required.
+ Natural Gas certifications, including EWN, Veriforce, MEA, ITS, or training certifications are strongly preferred.
+ Five to seven years of demonstrated experience within the Natural Gas industry, including managing OQ Compliance; experience within roles showing progressive amounts of training and leadership ability preferred.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Comprehensive knowledge of HSE regulations and standards.
+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
+ Proven capability to lead and train teams.
+ High attention to detail.
+ Ability to motivate others.
+ Strong leadership qualities.
+ Creative and practical thinking to implement effective safety practices.
+ Quick and efficient response to emergency situations while maintaining composure in a crisis.
