POSITION SUMMARY: MPC’s Galveston Bay Refinery located in Texas City, Texas, is seeking an  Area Reliability Engineer. This position supports the refinery Maintenance Department by identifying and developing equipment-related improvements. These improvements include root cause failure analysis and optimization of maintenance programs for process measurement and control Analyzers/Instrumentation and 480V Electrical equipment (LV Equipment- Motors, Electric Heat Tracing, Distribution Panels, etc.) The role also involves budgeting for planned equipment replacements, troubleshooting existing issues, implementing new solutions, and creating reliability programs focused on longer run times and safer operations. The position requires significant teamwork, collaboration, and communication across all refinery departments, as well as with various corporate entities.   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: + Collaborate with multiple disciplines to analyze failure trends in Analyzers/Instrumentation & LV Electrical equipment, recommending and implementing corrective actions to maximize equipment availability and reliability. + Address equipment threats and bad actors to maintain business continuity. + Drive short-term equipment improvement plans. + Provide technical and troubleshooting assistance to an Area Team in resolving equipment design, operation, and maintenance issues. + Utilize reliability tools such as failure evaluations, root cause analysis, and cost analysis to enhance equipment reliability. + Write recommendations for equipment upgrades, including financial justification (life cycle cost analysis), and assist in project development. + Develop and review turnaround work lists and scopes for electrical and instrumentation equipment. + Lead multi-department investigation teams to resolve recurring equipment failures. + Provide leadership and decision-making during turnarounds and unplanned equipment outages regarding repair solutions. + Commit to continuous improvement through innovation and mentoring of others. + Conduct post-audits to assess the effectiveness of reliability driven projects and activities. + Maintain a working knowledge of applicable specifications, codes, repair standards, and installation requirements for equipment. + Champion Management of Change for maintenance-driven changes. + Ensure equipment repairs meet or exceed OEM specifications.   EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: + A B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a Computer Engineering degree, from an ABET accredited university is required. ( Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date) + A minimum of 1 year of experience in operations, maintenance or Engineering in the refining, petrochemical or other heavy related industry is preferred. + A valid driver's license is required.
