Role description: 

This role supports the establishment, refinement, and operation of the Research and Development function (R&D) within GDIA. Working closely with the Chief Insights and Futures Officer, it focuses on delivering high-impact, client-facing insights by accelerating and deepening engagement through data-driven approaches, while streamlining efforts to eliminate low-value activities that dilute focus. Key Focus of the role must be to expand knowledge and understanding across the AECO industry.   

Role accountabilities: 

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to: 

Organize programs and activities for the R&D function within the GDIA.  Support the development and implementation of R&D strategy; in the areas of Define and maintain the R&D program roadmap aligned with AECO industry trends and organizational goals.Identify and prioritize research initiatives that drive innovation in design, construction, sustainability, and operations.  Project Oversight and Execution: Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple R&D projects, ensuring they meet scope, timeline, and budget. Coordinate cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, data scientists, and technology partners.  Responsible for the development and analysis of various market/industry reports, dashboards, conducting market research, Market and lead-generation analysis, and competitive analysis. Proactively provide advice and insights to the GIFO and wider business area leaders   Responsible for interpreting the market research and providing recommendations based on research findings.  Data Driven Insights: Leverage data analytics to inform priorities to measure impact. Analyze financial data and results to draw meaningful conclusions and insights. Promote evidence-based decision-making across the AECO lifecycle.   Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary liaison between R&D, executive leadership, and external collaborators.Translate complex technical progress into clear, actionable updates for stakeholders. Facilitate  Meetings, communications, and collaboration among the business area leaders and members. Promote knowledge transfer and best practices across teams.   Innovation Management: Foster a culture of innovation by identifying emerging technologies (e.g., BIM, digital twins, AI/ML, IoT) and integrating them into R&D efforts.Support ideation, prototyping, and pilot testing of new tools, materials, and processes.  Prepare and draft internal/external presentations and any publication related to the GBAs.  Develop and maintain a large network to facilitate communication and collaboration across cultures, time zones, and disciplines.  Governance & Compliance: ensure all R&D activities comply with Industry Regulations, safety standards, and internal quality protocols.   Responsible for administration tasks associated with managing GDIA.  Performance Monitoring and Reporting:Suport with the defining the KPI”S and success metrics for R&D programs, deliver regular reports and insights to leadership on progress, risk and opportunities.  Support and participate in ad-hoc tasks and special projects.  

Qualifications & Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or computer sciences preferred  More than 5 years in a business role (Market Research, Bid Manager, Business Development Manager, market/financial analysis)  Highly computer literate with intermediate knowledge in MS Office applications – PowerPoint and other database systems.  Well-versed in MS SharePoint, Microsoft Teams  Demonstrates proven experience and a strong track record of integrity in handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism  Confident in working with large data sets  Possesses advanced knowledge and expertise in analyzing Market and Financial data.  Must be a strong self-starter and proactive (action and results-driven); Quick in decision-making, liaison, and interaction with internal network  Has the competency to connect with and provide their advice and opinion to senior leadership & other key stakeholders  Must be a strong communicator – keen to reach out and work with international and global (internal) client base; building connections and network as needed   Highly analytical and organized  Basic understanding of financial analytics; can translate/interpret financial results and draw conclusions  Ability to learn, familiarize, and navigate internal systems used (OSC, CH)  High personal integrity, self-motivated, passionate, team-oriented individual
