Essential Responsibilities
Lead a global engineering team that designs new technologies, new products, validates products, assesses products for new applications, supports requisitions, and develops solutions for fleet issue resolutionEnsure design releases result in high product quality that meets availability, reliability, and performance targetsInfluence and execute business priorities utilizing LEAN tools to drive strong operational rigor • Manage priorities of team members and utilize network and organizational knowledge to remove roadblocks as necessary.Promote a team culture that focuses on gearbox integration and performance prediction using appropriate analytical methods.Technically underwrite the gearbox system design and validation plans.Partner with the sourcing commodity and quality leaders to co-lead the gearbox component team to set product reliability expectations.Create a culture within the team that promotes product safety, psychological safety, collaboration, proactive engagement, accountability, and self-reflective growth.Set clear expectations for the team and hold team accountable to complete commitments on time in prioritization order of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.Work with the systems and controls team to set expectations on product requirements and flow down.Work with cross functional leaders to down select technology choices.Partner with the materials team to set clear product requirements to meet reliability targets. Design and execute a team strategy that results in a high-performing team by hiring new talent, increasing the skills and capabilities of engineers, and managing poor performance in a timely manner.Collaborate without boundaries with a breadth of cross-functional teams to influence decisions and achieve customer-focused outcomes and minimize rework and workload creation in the organization.Develop and maintain a relationship with strategic suppliers to create transparency & collaboration opportunities .Present complex ideas in an easy-to-understand manner to internal senior leaders and external customersRequired Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering or related disciplineMinimum of 10 years of engineering experienceMinimum of 4 years of leadership experienceMinimum of 3 years Wind or gearbox industry experienceAbility and willingness to travel up to 30% of timeDesired Characteristics
Demonstrated ability to lead global engineering teams to successful outcomes.Strong wind turbine expertise and related component technical & business expertise.Strong technical leadership experience including NPI design, NTI development, problem solving & RCA resolution, method/tool development, and related items.Demonstrated systems thinker: ability to assess tradeoffs, effectively assess risk, and optimize results.Proven ability to drive process improvement, implement standard work, and utilize Lean operating principles.Proven ability to negotiate with external suppliers and customers to achieve mutual desired outcomes.Strategic thinker – able to navigate complexity, develop clear actions, and drive impact.Effective leader that adjusts style to enhance individual contributor performanceDemonstrated ability to influence others and drive cross-functional teams to success.Makes decisions and manages conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
