Abt Global seeks a qualified Gender Equity, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Manager to support the anticipated Congo Basin Forestry Action Programme (CBFAP), funded by the FCDO. CBFAP aims to enhance forest governance, improve livelihoods for forest-dependent communities, and promote sustainable land use across the Congo Basin. The GEDSI Manager will ensure that gender, disability, and social inclusion are embedded into all aspects of the program. **Position Summary** The GEDSI Manager will play a key role in ensuring that the CBFAP integrates and promotes gender equality, disability inclusion, and social inclusion throughout its activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing strategies, policies, and tools to ensure that women, persons with disabilities, Indigenous people and marginalised groups are empowered and equitably benefit from the program’s outcomes. This position requires expertise in gender mainstreaming, disability rights, and social inclusion, with a focus on integrating these components into governance, sustainable development, and community-based forestry projects. The GEDSI Specialist will work closely with technical teams, local partners, and stakeholders to ensure that GEDSI principles are fully reflected in all activities. **Core Responsibilities** **Gender Equity, Disability and Social Inclusion Integration** Lead the design and implementation of gender equity, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) strategies across all components of the CBFAP, such as enhancing Indigenous People’s rights, promoting women’s economic empowerment, and safeguarding vulnerable groups from risks of gender-based violence and harassment (GBVH). Provide technical support to ensure that GEDSI is mainstreamed into the project’s planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Develop and roll out gender equity, disability and social inclusion frameworks, toolkits, and guidelines to support project activities. **Capacity Building and Training** Design and deliver GEDSI-focused training and capacity-building initiatives for project staff, local partners, and stakeholders. Strengthen the capacity of local community organisations and government agencies in GEDSI-sensitive approaches. Provide mentorship and coaching to project staff to ensure GEDSI considerations are integrated into day-to-day activities. **Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy** Engage with local and national government agencies, CSOs, and other stakeholders to advocate for gender equity, disability and social inclusion in forest governance and land use policies. Facilitate the participation of women, people with disabilities, Indigenous people, and marginalised groups in project decision-making processes. **Monitoring and Evaluation** Collaborate with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team to develop and track GEDSI-sensitive indicators. Ensure the collection, analysis, and reporting of gender-disaggregated data and inclusion outcomes. Provide inputs to quarterly and annual reports, highlighting GEDSI achievements, challenges, and lessons learned. **Partnerships and Collaboration** Build partnerships with local organisations and international NGOs focused on gender equity, disability, and social inclusion. Work with the private sector to promote inclusive economic opportunities for women and marginalised groups. **Learning and Knowledge Management** Document best practices and lessons learned related to GEDSI in community-based forestry and forest governance. Contribute to knowledge products, policy briefs, and case studies focused on GEDSI issues. **What We Value** + Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Disability Studies, or a related field. + Experience in place of education will also be considered. + At least 10 plus years’ experience in designing, implementing, and managing gender equality, disability, and social inclusion strategies in international development programs. + Proven track record of GEDSI integration in large donor-funded programs (experience with FCDO projects highly desirable). + Expertise in gender mainstreaming, disability inclusion, and working with marginalised groups in forestry, natural resource management, or related sectors. + Experience in capacity building, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement with government, civil society, and communities. + Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical GEDSI concepts into practical guidance. + Demonstrated experience in facilitating GEDSI-related training and workshops. + Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation of GEDSI-sensitive indicators. + Fluency in English and **French** (required), knowledge of Indigenous languages in the Congo Basin is a plus. + Ability to work in a multicultural, diverse environment, and adapt to complex program settings. + Strong commitment to gender equality, disability rights, and social inclusion. + Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to work effectively across different sectors and cultural contexts. + Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on advocacy and consensus-building. + Highly organised, with strong project management capabilities and attention to detail. **What We Offer** We foster an environment where you can **Thrive Your Way** .
