The Gemstone Acquisition Analyst - Buying, will contribute in the responsible procurement of gemstones while ensuring that quality parameters are established and maintained with a strong focus on Product Development. They will have strong project management skill sets and will collaborate with cross functional departments to manage product development projects. The analyst will serve as a subject matter expert on projects involving gemstones with cross functional partners. They will also support Management in all special projects and department goals.
Key Accountabilities
Procurement
Collaborate with Management on the responsible procurement of gemstones against demand, supplier communication and pricing for assigned categories as per business needs Review, manage and communicate procurement changes in priorities and scope to cross functional teams such as, Product Development Ensure data integrity is sustained throughout and upon completion of procurement process Collaborate with Gemstone Grading Lab and Operations to ensure elimination of bottlenecks and improve flow of gemstones and work throughout the department Partner with Sr Analysts and Management to monitor and communicate priority orders to grading and ensure all gemological needs are met Ensure the timely processing of payments to suppliers and address issues with management Align all procurement responsibilities while maintaining Inventory Accuracy Support Management in all aspects of Responsible Sourcing and Sustainability for GA Maintain clean and orderly work area (6S). Assist in maintaining the security and safety of GAProduct Development
Partner with Management to research and facilitate product development projects to completion Ensure that set product samples meet product parameters by accurately assessing samples Provide buying support to management on the procurement of stones as needed for launch Propose innovative solutions to project-related problems and obstacles 30% Develop and maintain Product Style Sheets upon completion of projects to provide graders with reference material to inspect incoming stones Partner with Grading team to provide guidance on grading parameters for new product Complete sign-offs in a timely fashion.Gemological Expertise
Initiate call outs to procured gemstone/pearls in order to maintain feedback of product with cross functional teams Maintain gemological knowledge of industry trends, availability, treatments and gemstone developments Interpret complex design requests in conjunction with the Tiffany & Co. parameters to provide gemstone re-cutting recommendations or replacement requirements, maintaining design integrity and cost Support overall Grading goals across all gemstone categoriesComplies with safety and security operating procedures as described by the manager and through safety training programs. Reports safety and security-related observations and incidents to the manager.

Edwards, MS programs such as Excel and Word Ability to photograph stones Compliance with all company policies & procedures including but not limited to safety, confidentiality, security, attendance Must be flexible to adapt to changing priorities and willing to change responsibilities within the Department as needed by the business Knowledge of all grading laboratory equipment such as microscope, loupe, Sarin Machine, leverage gauge, Melee scopePreferred Qualifications
Graduate Gemologist DegreeThe hiring range for this position ranges from $70,125.00 - $82,500.00. The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidates’ relevant skills and experience.
