Yes County Albany Street Address 80 South Swan St. City Albany State NY Zip Code 12210 Duties Description This position is in the Bureau of Law Enforcement and Public Safety, supervised by the Deputy Executive Director of Law Enforcement and Public Safety and is responsible for the development and implementation of domestic and gender-based violence prevention programs in various state agencies and community organizations. The incumbent is an individual with experience in public safety in NYS, who understands how each discipline responds to and handles Gender Based Violence. These public safety disciplines are identified as law enforcement, telecommunications, Fire, EMS, probation, parole, prosecutors, college campus public safety/security, governmental and quasi-governmental entities, court and court staff, professional organizations in the criminal justice field, victim service provider organizations, and higher education institutions across New York State.Duties include but are not limited to:• Build and maintain relationships and partnerships with all disciplines of public safety who respond to and handle gender-based violence calls for service, investigations, prosecution, and provide community supervisor of domestic violence offenders.• Assist in the management of the agency’s law enforcement and public safety curriculums, trainings, and external presentations.• Create new and innovative learning experiences for traditional and non-traditional public safety disciplines including new curriculum and messaging.• Develop and execute a plan to train the law enforcement community to the updated Basic Course for Police Officer Curriculum which includes OPDV’s 3 pillars: survivor-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approach to domestic incident response.• Provide technical assistance related to policy and programming for survivor-centered, trauma informed, and culturally responsive law enforcement and public safety responses to victims of gender-based violence at the local and state level.• Provide technical assistance to law enforcement agencies, domestic violence service-providers, and the general public regarding law enforcement response to domestic and gender-based violence.• Create new and innovative learning experiences for traditional and non-traditional stakeholders in the area of criminal justice services and reform, including the development of new curriculum and messaging.• Develop informational and outreach materials for specific stakeholders and populations.• Prepare written reports as required by the agency and/or funding sources.• Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities. • Perform other duties and special projects as required. Minimum Qualifications Seven years of experience* in the provision of domestic or gender-based violence prevention services; the provision of human services, training and education, government, social justice or gender-based advocacy services; or public policy research and development.OROne year of permanent service as a Gender Violence Prevention Specialist*Substitutions: A bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of specialized experience; a master’s degree may substitute for five years of specialized experience; or a Ph.D. may substitute for six years of specialized experience.Preferred Qualification:• Law enforcement or other public safety experience, in NYS, which includes experience in developing and delivering trainings to various public safety disciplines. Additional Comments NOTE:• Travel may be required (approximately 40%), including during evening and weekends, depending on mission and assignment. • Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required, or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.
