**Gene Therapy Research Assistant** Science & Research Columbus, OH, US Pay Rate Low: 20.00 | Pay Rate High: 22.50 + Added - 22/11/2024 Apply for Job **The Role: Our client is seeking a motivated individual to provide laboratory support, perform experiments and collect data on in vitro and in vivo studies to investigate gene therapies for rare diseases. Activities will include assessment of gene editing, RNA and protein expression, and disease phenotype in animal models of neuromuscular disorders.** **Schedule: M-F 1st shift** **Type: Contract to hire** **Responsibilities:** • Assist in conducting experiments at the direction of scientists, performs general tasks and routine laboratory functions using a variety of assay formats such as nucleic acid and protein purification, Jess automated Western blot, ddPCR, RT-ddPCR, and ELISA. • Performs general laboratory maintenance and helps to maintain a clean and safe working environment while ensuring compliance with GCP/GLP guidelines. • Organizes and maintains inventories of study-related samples for experiments. • Participates in implementation of new technologies and laboratory techniques to improve quality and robustness of sample analysis. • Assists in training new employees on technical procedures as assigned in standard methods, practices, procedures, and equipment operations. • Troubleshoots routine technical challenges and contributes to their resolution. • Maintains compliant laboratory records, consistently and accurately documents all laboratory activities in accordance with good documentation practices. • Performs other duties as assigned. **Qualifications:** • B.A. or B.S. degree in Biochemistry, Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics or related field with 1-3 years of relevant experience in a laboratory setting. • Ability to plan and carry out experiments independently with strict adherence to laboratory methods and SOPs. • Demonstrates proficient written and oral communication and presentation skills and a documented ability to troubleshoot technical issues. • Strong problem solving and data analysis skills. • Highly organized and able to work with great precision and attention to detail. • Adheres to safety protocols and uses knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices to advance projects under rapidly shifting priorities and timelines. • Experience with statistical and computer productivity software (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc). • Desire to work in a high-functioning, collaborative team across multiple therapeutic platforms. • Desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment and to make a difference in the lives of people through our innovative medicines.
