Summary
McLarens is seeking an experienced General Casualty Adjuster for a designated region with the ability to travel as needed. The Casualty Adjuster needs to be able to work under minimal supervision resolving general liability losses by investigating and negotiating adjustment of losses. We are looking for an exceptional and resourceful problem solver, proactive thinker, and self-starter.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Receive and review claim intake daily. Assist Large Loss Adjusters and Account Adjusters with various tasks, including investigations, assessment of loss, and interview or correspond with claimants or other relevant parties. Investigate and determine the cause, circumstance, and extent of damage for causality related loss. Review policy coverage and raise questions with insurers where appropriate. Report findings to either a McLarens Account Adjuster or directly to a Claims Examiner at an insurance company for their review and consideration. Liaise with insured, insurer, broker, retained experts, etc. to resolve matters timely and equitably. Maintain diary to ensure timely reporting to clients. Prepare scope of damage and costs schedule. Other duties as instructed by senior level management.
Required Experience & Skills:
4-year college degree preferred. 4-5 years of commercial and residential property claims experience. 2+ years handling and managing complex commercial large losses. Appropriate state adjuster license(s). National claims experience. Experience with general liability losses, product, contractors, and reinsurance preferred. Established Broker/Carrier relationships. Experience with commercial and residential ISO policies including manuscript interpretations. Proficient knowledge of Xactimate or other estimating platforms. Knowledge of the independent claims adjusting business to include familiarity with local jurisdictional requirements and claim practices. Strong communication skills; both verbal and written. Strong interpersonal and analytical skills. Ability to plan and prioritize.

(regularly) Ability to position self to inspect confined spaces, ascend and descend stairwells and ladders, traverse roofs, and work atop roofs. (Regularly) Transport objects weighing up to or exceeding 50 pounds. (regularly) Transport, unfold, and extend OSHA approved ladder which may exceed 50 pounds. (frequently) Ability to operate a laptop/computer, phone, other office productivity machinery (calculator, printer, etc.), and measuring devices. (regularly) Manual dexterity and coordination to extend hands and arms in various directions, using fingers in repetitive motion for keyboarding and writing. (regularly) Handle paperwork and files. McLarens is searching for a General Adjuster working in a designated region with the ability to travel, as needed, to resolve various types of losses. This role’s main responsibilities will be managing the resolution of first and third-party claim exposures from both a coverage, investigative, and loss establishment perspective. The General Adjuster needs to be able to work in a collaborative and responsive fashion with varying levels of supervision resolving complex exposures. Visit insured/risk to investigate cause, circumstances, extent of loss, and damage. Review policy coverage and raise questions with insurers, where appropriate, and recommend resolutions. Consult with construction contractors, engineers, and other experts for the purpose of determining damages. Timely reporting to clients with clear and comprehensive content Formulate technically precise correspondence specific to Reservation of Rights, Declination of Coverage, and Denial of Liability. Communicate effectively with policyholders, claimants, witnesses, independent and field adjusters. Effectively manage claims and liaise with insured, insurer, broker, retained experts, etc. Prepare scope of damage, loss measure, and costs schedule. Coordinate cost agreements with insured and claimant. Bring matters to a timely, equitable resolution in accordance with Coverage and/or Liability findings. Other duties as instructed by Leadership, including out-of-territory travel and catastrophe response, as needed.
