General Engineer (Plumber)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Maintain all building systems and equipment, including repairs, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, pneumatic, hydraulic equipment and appliances to ensure effective operation. Inform management staff of problems requiring maintenance and report any equipment deficiencies. Maintain and repair all building systems and equipment. Communicate with other shifts to ensure any follow-up on on-going projects in order to minimize down time. Respond to accident scenes, emergency calls (fire, smoke, etc.) and observe and assist Journeyman. Act as a maintenance representative for the Property Operations department. All Property Operations employees may be required to assist in other job duties within the department at any time regardless of job classification. Maintain daily record of work requests, preventative maintenance work requests, craft cards and all union apprentice time sheets and related paperwork. Assist in installing and maintaining plumbing systems. Read blueprints and drawings to determine exact specifications and where plumbing system will be installed. Determine water supply networks and waste drainage systems.   Coordinate with project manager on installation. Install systems used to transport water, waste, gases, or liquids. Ensure legislation and policies are met and that systems are up to code. Ensure systems meet all standards of building codes and safety. Cut openings in structures in preparation for pipes. Select all materials needed for installation, including type and size of pipe. Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment. Assemble and install valves and fittings. Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing and welding equipment. Install other plumbing equipment, such as sinks, tubs, toilets, water heaters, air conditioners, appliances, and trim. Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle Observe pressure gauges to fix leaks.  Test pipe systems and fix leaks. Repair and maintain water treatment equipment. Perform scheduled maintenance. Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported and grade.

. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Candidate must have a minimum of three to five (3 - 5) years of experience in General Engineering. Hotel experience a plus. Possess a strong attention to detail and engaging presentation skills. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.  Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate. Effective time management and multi-tasking abilities are a must, a professional appearance is required. Dedicated to meeting and/or exceeding the expectations and requirements of internal and external clients. Trusted and is seen as a truthful individual who is highly respectful of others. Consistently exhibits courteous, respectful, and appropriate communications and presents information in a concise and understandable format. Cooperate with others in the accomplishment of joint tasks and common objectives. Contributes to a positive work environment, fosters collaboration and provides a tangible contribution. Meet requirements of regular attendance in order to effectively complete job responsibilities in a timely manner.

 

Education:

High School or equivalent, on the job training, any other training classes pertaining to the position is helpful

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance visions, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
