General Fabricator I

Position Summary:  

 The General Fabricator #1 position at AHC is knowledgeable in a variety of tasks associated with fabrication, including but not limited to: saws, drill press, deburring, tap arms, routers, manual and powered hand tools. 

Major Responsibilities: 

Routine operation and maintenance of equipment.  Includes the ability to adjust feeds and speeds, change out blades or bits, monitor equipment for proper function and removal of debris, and report errors to management with regards to information, parts, or equipment.Competent use of hand, bench, and light machine tools to perform cutting, tapping, deburring, filing, grinding and polishing on sawed and machined parts.Understanding and accurate use of measuring equipment (tape measure, caliper, micrometer, square, protractor, scales, etc.) and marking devices to transfer information from blueprints to the work piece.Accurate documentation including paperwork and computer processing requirements.  Interpretation and maintenance of  schedules, work orders, blueprints, and bills of material.Performance of inventory verification counts as prescribed by Production and Inventory Control.Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with company policies.Plan and prioritize tasks under general supervision.  Ability to rapidly adjust when priorities change.Suggest and implement improvements.Communicates all production related items to other operator(s) or shift supervisor.Other duties and responsibilities as required.

Required Education / Experience / Skills:  

Mechanically inclined and experienced in metal fabrication and machine operation.Routine duties are performed with minimal supervision.  Follows standard practices or procedures to proceed alone at routine work with occasional checks of work while in progress.  Work is reviewed upon completion.High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively to communicate ideas and concerns in a constructive manner.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Basic personal computer skills, including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, etc.

 Working Conditions:

Well-lighted, heated indoor production setting with adequate ventilation.

Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily production/technical nature.
