Job Responsibilities and Duties:\n

This position will function as a Base Metals Refinery (BMR) Operations General Foreman. Primary supervisory and leadership responsibilities include but are not limited to direct supervision for BMR staff and hourly personnel, establishing and maintaining safety and production work standards, continued optimization of operational systems, understands and can articulate the specific short term and the general, longer-term goals of the company, budget development and adherence, and a champion of on-going project initiatives. \n\nProvide leadership for safe and productive operations.\nCoach and mentor the BMR leaders in accordance with SMC leadership qualities.\nRegularly interact with the workforce, demonstrating high level leadership qualities.\nWork with site senior leadership team in continuing development of a focused, engaged culture throughout the organization.\nEstablish and execute short and long term planning strategies that support the growth of the operation.\nDevelop and execute strategic workforce planning. \nFoster cooperation, collaboration, and innovation to ensure that site production and development goals are understood and efficiently supported. \nLead BMR operations team to ensure maximum productivity and equipment availability by safely optimizing operating systems and procedures.\nBe pro-active in all aspects of the operation; safety, environmental, effective and efficient utilization of resources, productivity, Continuous Improvement initiatives, and teamwork across the site.\nSupport Safety and Health Management and Environmental systems and regulatory compliance.\nMaintain a productive labor relations environment, minimizing unnecessary conflict.\nDevelop and communicate site goals and initiatives in cooperation with other site managers.\n\n

Qualifications and Skills:\n

Required:\n\nKnowledge of maintenance procedures and machinery functions in an industrial environment.\nAbility to communicate with technical specialists and to interpret technical drawings and specification documents.\nStrong oral and written communication skills.\nLeadership qualities including character, teamwork, communication, business sense, and vision.\nWell established communication, interpersonal, and record keeping skills.\nProficient in computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite to include Word and Excel).\nExperience and understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.\n\n

Preferred:\n\nAbility to analytically and rationally make decisions.\nExperience with OSHA regulations.\nUnderstanding of Process Operations.\nExperience with Critical Task Analysis and the writing of Standard Operating Procedures.\nGeneral knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements.\nUnderstanding of company policies, procedures, and standards.\nExperience applying modern-day technology to improve reliability.\nExperience implementing safety and quality control systems.\n\n

Education and Experience:\n\nMinimum 5 years of relevant processing plant experience in a supervisory, lead man or equivalent position.\nPost-Secondary education in a relevant field, preferred.\nProject management experience, preferred.\nTechnical metallurgical experience, preferred.\n\n
