Your Impact: Supervise drilling operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and alignment with production goals.

 

 

As Part of Our Team You Will:

Adhere to, create, and maintain a culture of care by engaging, developing, and coaching the Drill and Blast team.Supervise and run daily surface drill and blast operations, ensuring all tasks are performed efficiently and safely.Ensure explosive magazines and facilities are kept up to regulatory and site standards.Ensure all drill and blast activities comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.Execute regular safety inspections and audits, solving any violations or concerns promptly and implementing corrective actions.Schedule and administer resources, including team members, equipment, and materials, to support drilling and blasting operations and maximize productivity.Monitor the performance of drilling and blasting operations through data analysis and key performance indicators (KPIs).Prepare and execute drilling and blasting schedules to ensure timely completion of activities.Prepare and deliver regular reports on drill and blast performance, maintenance activities, and compliance with safety standards to senior partners.Assessing relevant risks, implementing mitigation measures, and continuously monitoring for risks.Your Training, Skills and Experience Checklist:

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations): 

Bachelors’ Degree in Mine /Civil Engineering, Geology or equivalent trade qualification.MINCOM Mine Captain certification.

 

Additional Knowledge:

Understanding of continuous improvement concepts.Practical and applied knowledge of working safely and sustainably in this area of mining.Practical knowledge gained from working in relevant mining role - applied knowledge of technical aspects of the role including processes, equipment and systems.

 

Experience:

Minimum of 8 – 10 years’ experience in a mining environment, with a minimum 5 – 6 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.Experience with Mine Dispatch Systems.

 

Problem Solving Ability: Completes concrete procedural tasks.Follows procedural steps to complete work.Uses practical judgment to overcome problems, or requests assistance.Sees alternatives based on trial & error.Improves working methods using day-to-day experiences, procedures, observations of pattern of events, and trial and error.

 

Technical Skills:

Competent in operational processes and systems required of the role.Competent in safety, health, and sustainability processes and procedures.Foundational understanding of the processes of parallel areas of work - for example planning, drill and blast, maintenance, processing. Competent to deliver specific activities identified in the role, and using relevant equipment.Competent in risk management and mitigation.For supervisor roles, competent in all aspects of teams management and operational performance monitoring, and in managing conflict between stakeholders.
