General Labourer / Scalehouse Attendant

A General Laborer is responsible for safely and efficiently performing general labor duties at a hauling company, transfer station, materials recycling facility (MRF) or landfill. Responsibilities may include such things as yard clean-up, fueling vehicles and equipment, general vehicle operation, general office maintenance and other related duties.
Key Responsibilities:
Clean and maintain work areas, including performing yard work such as mowing and picking up paper.Operate general site vehicles and equipment (water trucks, pickup trucks, sweepers, mowers, trimming equipment, etc.).Perform track and equipment cleaning duties.Assist with general office maintenance and repairs (painting, janitorial work).Direct traffic as needed within the site.Weigh and log trucks entering the landfill or transfer station, issuing truck permits.Provide accurate and efficient billing information for customers and management.Adhere to company and safety regulations in line with federal, state, provincial, and local guidelines.Other duties as assigned by management.Requirements:
Valid driver’s license.High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.Basic computer skills.Must meet safety-sensitive function criteria according to company standards.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.Ability to follow instructions and perform duties independently with limited supervision.Ability to operate necessary equipment safely and effectively.Ability to use common sense reasoning to solve problems.Physical/Mental Demands:
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift in an outdoor environment for up to 90% of the time.Regularly required to use hands/fingers, kneel, crawl, talk, hear, climb, and balance.Must have good vision (close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment).Ability to manually lift up to 65 pounds frequently and push/move up to 100 pounds with assistance.Working Conditions:
Frequent exposure to loud noise, extreme weather (hot, cold, rain), and mechanical parts.Work outdoors up to 100% of the time in potentially hazardous conditions.Occasional work in high or precarious places.Frequent exposure to motor vehicle traffic.Work environment is typically loud.#GFLTalent
