The General Maintenance Helper is located in Bowmanville, Ontario and typically reports directly to the Procurement Director. The General Maintenance Helper will be responsible to ship, receive, store and deliver a wide variety of construction related materials. This individual will be required to record and track movement of all materials as well as perform general maintenance, cleaning for the warehouse and office, as well as other facility related activities as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work shall include but not necessarily be bound by the following:
Perform light duties such as sweeping, general cleaning, painting, garbage removal, snow removalErection of safety barricades Maintaining of signage General maintenance of door/window closures, door handles and hinges and other like devices Light maintenance of mechanical/electrical equipment including cleaning and garbage removal from rooms Filter changing Determine method of shipment and arrange shipping; prepare bills of lading, customs forms, invoices and other shipping documents manually or by computer Assemble containers and crates, record contents manually or in computer system, pack goods to be shipped and affix identifying information and shipping instructions Loading and unloading of goods from trucks or other conveyances Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents, record shortages and reject damaged goods Unpack, code and route goods to appropriate storage areas Maintain internal, manual or computerized record-keeping systems Operate forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goodsInterface with suppliers, QA and Project Management to coordinate material requirements and receipt inspectionsAdhere to shipping and receiving policies/proceduresEnsure that all safety rules/regulations are followedCommunicate relevant information to internal and external stakeholders when requiredUnderstand and comply with project retention policies and standardsPPE Ordering & Restocking of ShelvesAdhere to record retention policies and standards, and comply with filing systemAssist other classifications as required.COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

Completion of secondary school is required

Member of, or eligibility to become member of, United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, LOCAL 787Proficient user of MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)Valid Ontario Driver’s License Security clearance requirements (Ontario Power Generation) Knowledge of QA receipt inspection process is an asset Knowledge of materials management requirements in quality programs such as NQA-1, CSA N285 and CSA N286 is an asset Forklift certificate (must be able to obtain) Ability to lift up to 50 Lbs Must possess good communication skills and be a team player Safety conscious, attention to detail Understand project management processes and document control procedures Exceptional organizational and communication skillsWORK PERKS & BENEFITS
