General Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician inspects, tests maintains, installs, repairs, and modifies systems, equipment and structure within the Network. The intent of this job description is to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this position and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the position.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Inspects, tests, maintains , installs, repairs, and modifies systems, equipment, and structure within the Netow o r k . I f addi tion al craftsmen are required, the mechanic monitors, and coordinates the work to completion.
2. Communicates and works directly with supervisory and management personnel, nurses, patients, and other staff daily to ensure that optimum patient care and business environment is provided. Maintains good public relations by responding professionally to their needs and keeping staff informed regarding the status of requested work.
3. Paints, spackles, and finishes all type of surfaces as required and achieves results that meet departmental standards. Patches plaster as needed.
4. Repairs and hangs various types of wall coverings and achieves quality results.
5. Mixes paint and colors by using formula books, color charts, or by whatever means are necessary to achieve desired colors or textures.
6. Have knowledge of general commercial building maintenance.
7. Be skilled in the operation of all tools within the trades.
8. Be able to activate and deactivate the hospital fire system.
9. Be able to read blueprints, etc.
10. Be able to requisition material as needed.
11. Be able to complete applicable paperwork.
12. Performs preventative maintenance as assigned on systems, equipment, and structure within the Network . Works with the supervisor in establishing new preventative maintenance routines and modifying ones in that zone.
13. Complete jobs thoroughly and accurately in a timely manner .
14. Cooperates with other departments and work groups.
15. Works independently, in a safe and appropriate manner. Demonstrates both problem solving and prevention skills equal to the expected level of responsibility to their jobs.
16. Completes assignments within the allotted time, taking into consideration the needs of patients, customers, and client.
17. Works carefully and precisely, with attention to detail.
18. Organizes and delivers service in the proper order. Displays good organizational skills and utilizes resources appropriately.
19. Performs duties with initiative and willingness. Shares necessary information with coworkers when appropriate or needed.
20. Remains composed in stressful situations and takes action to restore calm if job appropriate .
21. Be a member of the security alert and disaster response teams.
22. Assist with other security duties as required .
23. Performs work in accordance with local, state, and national code compliance in his/her zone and reports violations directly to the supervisory and management personnel in Engineering. Uses hand, power, and technical related tools and test equipment.
24. Treats other s with consideration, courtesy, and respect.
25. Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity as well as the proper release of information.
26. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient, and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.
27. Demonstrates/models the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external). Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate : Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.
28. Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes, and practices. Accurately documents task completing utilizing computerized maintenance management system.
29. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.
